Who joined you?

Hey Phil.

I think he was only talking about Marcel De Clericy, who’s joined our late Patrick. Nilsou.
MI Micheldumont ·
Hey Patrick. No doubt you’re traveling to much greater heights. Just know we haven’t forgotten you.
TI Timouss Globetrotter ·
No, we haven’t forgotten you.
ME Mensonge ·
Hello.

I didn’t know the guy, but I really wish I had… Same age, life in Nice (a bit), same passion for travel and Asia, apparently a lot of humor (not me, him ;)). I’m sad. Damn MAM...

I don’t believe he’s watching us from the sky or anything like that. I’m posting this because, selfishly, I feel like it—a testament to a kind of respect for his way of life, which, through his writing, seems to be what I aspire to.

Yangguizi, if everything goes as I hope, you must be around 8 years old, living in the Middle Kingdom, and speaking Mandarin… and already wanting to visit France (and other countries)—it’s trendy over there. 😄

Thanks, buddy, for the travel journals. They’re still just as amazing, and I think I’ll re-read them my whole life.

Nothing is lost—maybe in another life!

8 years already! Wow! 😕

I haven’t forgotten either. Not Patrick, Nor those who joined him.
MI Micheldumont ·
I’ve been reading his travel journals—I never get tired of them. We miss you.

I just signed up and discovered his travel journal in Iran—a real pure delight (rich rhyme with "laughter"), and then I’m told he passed away... 9 years ago! Seriously, what a shock! His journal is so full of life! I know I’ll still enjoy the other journals, but it won’t feel the same... 😕 Pissed at this *** luck that takes the best of us in our thirties. Not funny.
TI Timouss Globetrotter ·
I still think of you, Patrick, especially when people talk about Korea and that charming Kim Jong
PH Philobate Globetrotter ·
I don’t like birthdays, especially this one… it kinda hurts!

Thinking of you!

True. Patrick’s travel journal made me really want to visit the country, but I never found the opportunity (or rather, friends as crazy as me to come along), and Kim and Trump’s antics aren’t helping...

Every year, I reread some of Patrick’s journals and laugh like it’s the first time. What a way with words! !

Yes, I think of him too, and I sometimes reread his travel journals.

Same here—every time the media talks about North Korea, I think back to that amazing travel journal by Yangguizi.

Hi everyone,

In his messages, Patrick used to say, "whatever you do, don’t forget my birthday on November 4th." So, every year in July, I come back to reread some of his juicy anecdotes, thinking about all the legacy he left that still inspires travelers—and of course, his perspective on North Korea. His sudden passing was a harsh blow for me, and I think for the whole community that followed his adventures. I won’t go on about his storytelling skills that kept me glued to his stories for entire nights.

And now that November 4th has just passed, happy birthday, Patrick!!!!!

Cheers, Artist!

Hello,

Ten years ago today—if I remember right—Patrick played his last foreigner’s prank on us. The one we didn’t find funny.

It was yesterday.

On January 8, 2005, "ShanghaiPat" joined Voyage Forum and, devil of a foreigner, stayed only three and a half years—for our greatest pleasure... and forever in our hearts.

10 years already 😢 Thoughts to his family.
