Hi there, I’m planning to visit Japan in May this year, and I’d love to try doing it without taking a flight. I’m currently in Vietnam, and my plan is to travel to Shanghai and then take a ferry to Osaka. I can’t find any clear info online about whether this is still possible. Most links mention a weekly departure, but when I check the company’s website, it says passenger transport is suspended.

If any of you have more recent info, I’d really appreciate it!

Hi everyone, I’ve got a big project in northern Vietnam—discovering the most beautiful rice terraces before the harvest... I’m planning to leave around September 15th until October 15th, then spend 15 days exploring the two bays, Lan Ha and Ha Long. In total, 45 days without a visa... I’m traveling solo and very independent. But is it possible to do this kind of trip using local trains and buses? My plan is to leave Hanoi for Nghia Lo (2 days), then Mu Cang Chai (4 days), Sapa (4 days), Bac Ha (2 days), Ha Giang... Hoang Su Phi, then do the Meo Vac loop, Dong Van, etc., to see those stunning karst peaks before heading back to Hanoi. In my research, I haven’t found any buses or vans going from Hanoi to Nghia Lo, even though it’s super popular for its rice terrace landscapes.... I don’t want a daily driver, but I’m thinking I could use moto-taxis to get around locally once I’m there.... What do you think? These rice terraces are a dream for me, along with the markets and all the different ethnic groups, not to mention those spectacular rocky peaks... Is the itinerary too ambitious? I’ve got time on my side. Do you have any solutions? I’ve browsed the forum a lot, but the discussions are 5 or 6 years old, and I think things have changed since then. I’m embarking on my first trip to Asia, starting with South Korea.

I’ll be traveling with my 15-year-old daughter, who came up with the idea...

We’ll be there from July 15th to 22nd.

I’ve currently planned to stay in Seoul from the 15th to the 19th, then head to Busan from the 19th to the 21st. We need to be back in Seoul on the evening of the 21st because our flight is at 10 AM on the 22nd.

I love modern cities, but for a first trip to Asia, I’d also like to see some traditional sights. Do you think Busan is a good idea?

I’m considering staying in Gyeongju instead and spending two days in Busan...

What do you think?

Maybe another city in a different region of Korea?

Hi there, I’m scheduled to land in Guiyang on April 6th at 3:00 PM. Since I don’t have much time there, I’d like to head straight to Zhenyuan. Unfortunately, the last train leaves at 2:06 PM. Do you know if taxis go all the way to Zhenyuan? Otherwise, there are buses, but I think I’d have to transfer in Kaili? Thanks

We’ve deliberately skipped the eastern part (from Beppu to Miyazaki…)

We still have a few questions about our itinerary:

Car: For most of our travel, we plan to take the train or bus, except in the Aso region where we’ll rent a car. We’re wondering about Sakurajima and Yakushima: is a car necessary there?

Ojika: Would one night be enough?

Yakushima: Are two full days (plus two half-days) sufficient?

If we keep the schedule as is, we have one extra day to fit in somewhere—any suggestions?

Hi, I'm currently looking into a cruise departing from Taipei with an arrival in Seoul. It really interests me, and I’ve put a hold on it. However, it’s a guaranteed balcony cabin, which makes me a bit nervous—has anyone had this type of cabin with a bad experience? Any info on the NCL Spirit?

Regarding the stops, I’d love to know what we can do with an overnight in Osaka, and the same for an overnight in Yokohama (not necessarily Tokyo).

My wife and I are heading to Japan from March 27 to April 22, 2025. On the evening of the 21st, we’ll be staying in Tokyo to catch our international flight. For this first trip, we’ve prioritized a fairly classic itinerary. Here’s the plan:

- Osaka (arriving at Kansai Airport) - Hiroshima - Itsukushima (also known as Miyajima) - Kyoto - Nara - Kanazawa - Shirakawa-go - Takayama - Tokyo

We’ll likely finish our sightseeing in Tokyo around March 17.

We’re thinking of heading somewhere "quiet" or "by the sea," maybe an island, between the 17th/18th and the evening of the 21st.

What are your thoughts or experiences?

Departure imminent on 10/27. The trip will be a full 18 days. I still have a few questions about transportation for certain legs:

Day 1: Arrival in Fukuoka in the evening at 7:30 PM

Day 2: Fukuoka city

Day 3: Ukiha (car or train?)

Day 4: Itoshima

Day 5: 11/01/2024: Okawa, Omuta (forge), and Yanagawa for the Yanagawa Hakushu Matsuri. A bit ambitious for a single day?

Day 6: Arita / Owakachiyama / rice fields in the evening: Is it better to go from Fukuoka to Arita by car or train?

Day 7: Sasebo + Kujukushima Pearl + fireworks show Day 8: Karatsu (Yobuko market + cave + cape) + Matsuri Kanchi Day 9: Kashima + garden + Tara Day 10: Higashi Sonogi, overnight in Nagasaki. Is it better to return the car in Arita or Nagasaki? Day 11: Nagasaki Day 12: Nagasaki, overnight in Fukuoka, so departure by train from Nagasaki Day 13: Munakata and Oshima, and in the evening, Hanabi Kama

Day 14: Mount Hiko, Toho, Soeda. Is there a pottery village? With or without hands-on experience?

Day 15: Yame (Hoshino tea visit) and Kurume Masure workshop

Days 16, 17, 18, 19: Fukuoka city and maybe Nokonoshima or Kitakyushu

Any suggestions? Does this seem balanced?

Je reçois chaque soir sur internet le journal Kampai;enfin une bonne nouvelle:les résidents sont autorisés à sortir ou rentrer au Japon à partir du 1er septembre. Pour les touristes on verra.Je ne désespère pas de visiter le Japon en novembre ou début décembre.Les pessimistes de tout poil sont priés de garder pour eux se qu'ils ont vu dans leur boule de cristal. J'aimerai partir au Japon en décembre pour 17 jours. Pensez-vous que cette itinéraire soit adapté ? Je veux voir pleins de chose mais profiter quand même un minimum des endroits où je vais. Pensez-vous que je dois enlever une ou deux villes de mon voyage ?

Tokyo : 10 jours

Je prendrais le JR pass pour 7 jours pour visiter les différentes villes hors Tokyo :

Mont fuji : 1 jour Nagoya : 1/2 journée Kyoto : 1 jour 1/2 Nara : 1 jour Osaka : 2 jours

Bonjour à tous! Je me projette dans un futur post-covid... Y a-t-il certains parmi vous qui avez fait la route entre Kathmandou et Lhassa, et comment? Etait-ce possible avant la Covid en groupe, voire en individuel? Et au Tibet, avez-vous pu vous déplacer, comment et où? Il me semble que c'était compliqué, voire interdit, mais entre ce qu'on entend à droite à gauche et ce que les voyageurs/ses font réellement, il y a parfois une grosse différence. Et puis, que nous réserve le futur? J'aimerais donc bien lire vos anecdotes sur ce sujet et aussi votre avis sur le devenir du tourisme étranger au Tibet. Merci à vous tous d'avance!

Option 1: J-1: Tokyo - Nagano : visite du parc aux singes et de la ville le soir. Nuit à Nagano J-2: Visite de Matsumoto et du château. Nuit à Nagano J-3: Direction Kamazawa : Visite de Kanazawa. Nuit sur place J-4: Visite de Shirakawa-go. Finir la soirée à Kanazawa et nuit sur place J-5: Retour à Tokyo

Option 2: J-1: Tokyo - Matsumoto: visite du Château et de la ville. Nuit à Matsumoto J-2: Visite du parc aux singes à Nagano. Flâner dans Nagano. Nuit à Matsumoto J-3: Direction Magome pour faire la promenade jusqu'à Tsumago. Retour à Matsumoto pour la nuit. J-3: Direction Kanazawa. Visite de Kanazawa et nuit sur place. J-4: Visite de Shirakawa-go. Finir la soirée à Kanazawa et nuit sur place J-5: Retour à Tokyo

mes questions sont les suivantes: - je n'ai pas inclus Takayama car j'ai lu plusieurs fois que c'était presque à double avec Kanazawa et Shirakawa-go. Est-ce que Takayama vaut le détour? Si oui le plus simple est d'y aller une journée depuis Kanazawa j'imagine? - Voyez-vous d’autres spots importants à visiter dans les alentours ? Exemple dans la Valée de Kiso? En sachant que nous sommes à pied/train et non en voiture.

Bonjour, Nous devions partir 3 semaines en mai pour notre 1er voyage au japon . Ce fut un crève cœur d'annuler. Nous avons décidé de reprogrammer notre voyage l'an prochain en mai (🤪 si c'est possible) et ce sera pour 5 semaines, histoire de nous venger 😉

notre 1er programme était assez classique, avec un transport en shinkansen. Tokyo 8 nuits Kanazawa 2 nuits takayama 2 nuits Hiroshima ( et Myajyma) 2 nuits Kyoto 5 nuits

sur 5 semaines, nous avons rajouté : 3 nuits à Tokyo (soit 11 nuits) pour prendre notre temps dans nos quartiers préférés et visiter quelques quartiers plus ignorés des touristes ( Koenji, Shimokitazawa) 2 nuits à Kanazawa (soit 4) pour louer une voiture et visiter la peninsule de Noto 2 nuits à Hiroshima (soit 4 nuits) en louant une voiture pour pousser jusqu'à Onomichi, peut-être Takehara ou l'arrière pays au nord Hiroshima, vers Akiota. 1 nuit à Kyoto (soit 6 nuits) pour prendre son temps.

Et voilà, il nous reste 5 nuits à programmer et la question est : Osaka ou pas Osaka? on pourrait rester 5 jours de plus à Kyoto et en profiter pour visiter Osaka que nous n'avions pas prévu dans notre 1er programme. ou alors louer une voiture et visiter autour de Kyoto?

Bonjour à tous Je débute mes recherches pour préparer un voyage au Japon en 2021 ( avril ou octobre pendant les vacances scolaires zone C avec certainement 11 à 12 nuits sur place) Nous sommes un couple avec un ado de 17 ans. Les témoignages me donnent envie de tout visiter...mais il faut faire un choix...c'est là que vous intervenez 😄!

Itinéraire 1: arrivée à Tokyo, départ d'Osaka J-1 et 2: Tokyo pour le côté branché + 1 parc plutôt que visites de temples. J3 et 4 Hiroshima et miyajima J 5-6: shimanami kaido ( j'ai 2 triathletes a la maison!. Idéalement imabari-onomichi avec nuit sur une des îles) J7-8-9-10: Kyoto ( avec journée a Nara et Universal studio d'Osaka) J11 nuit près aéroport de Kansai car départ tôt pour la France Sur cet itinéraire JR pass 7 jours? Avis logement et répartition des nuits... Ça me paraît un marathon, non?

Itinéraire 2: je zappe Tokyo ( pour mieux y revenir une autre fois?). Vol AR osaka J1-2-3: Kyoto J4-5: Hiroshima et miyajima J6-8: shimanami kaido ( ferry Hiroshima- Matsuyama puis train jusqu'à ibamari). Nuit sur une des îles. J9-10-11: osaka ( +Universal studio, Nara si non fait en début de séjour?) Sur cet itinéraire JR pass setouchi?

Autre question : mon mari et mon fils loueront certainement un vélo de route...et moi un vélo électrique...j'ai malheureusement vu qu'il faudrait le rendre au même endroit où passer par le service de retour Wakka....qui peut m'expliquer ?

Nous nous rendons à Taïwan fin Mars pour 16 jours. Dans la planification de notre itinéraire je me demandais s’il était intéressant de dormir à Jiufen ou s’il faut mieux faire l’AR depuis Taïpei sur la journée. Notre voyage continue après vers les gorges de Taroko et nous voyageons avec papy et mamy ultra dynamiques mais qui ont 75 ans et aiment moins changer d’hôtel que nous.Merci pour votre aide.

bonjour à tous, quelqu'un pourrait-il m'informer du prix approximatif du voyage pour un chinois désirant venir faire un séjour touristique en europe : je parle du prix du vol et du visa . Est-ce comparable avec le notre ( prix d'avion assez bas en le prenant 2 à 3 mois en avance) et prix du visa exorbitant si on habite loin d'un visa center. Merci à tous
