voila, je me demande quel sont les meilleurs possibilites pour voyager en europe entre les capitales et grandes villes.

je sais qu'easyjet propose vraiment des prix battant toutes concurrences, mais je sais aussi que avec ce genre d'offre il faut se mefier de tout les "a cote". comme les taxes d'aeroports qui peuvent etre tres tres cher.

est-ce que qqn sait si les taxes d'aeroports sont a payer dans les aeroports de depart et d'arriver, ou seulement dans l'un des deux? s'il y a d'autre taxes ou assurance qu'il faut payer, non mentionne dans le prix de base? est-ce qu'il existe un site avec une liste des different aeroports et leurs taxes?

Ma femme est trés attiré par ce coin et surtout les parcs d'attraction.

Mais voilà, moi c'est le budget qu'il faut y consacrer qui me stress un peu.

A votre avis quel est le budget a s'attendre (entrée, dépense moyenne etc...)

Faut-il louer une voiture sur place ou tout est facile coté transport public ou taxi (suivant budget).

Est ce que tout se trouve trés eloigné l'un de l'autre .

Avis au futurs voyageurs en bulgarie:

Ne pas acheter le guide petit futé, il contient pas mal d'erreurs et d'oublis notamment en ce qui concerne les transports.

Je reviens d'un voyage de 15 jours dans l'ouest de la bulgarie et finalement heureusement que les bulgares sont des gens charmants pour renseigner car le petit futé, là nous a bien souvent planté!

Si vous avez des besoins d'infos...

Est-ce qu'il y en a qui auraient des infos sur les cours de langue en Italie ou encore simplement sur l'italie. Des conseils ou quoi que ce soir. cueillette de fruits wwoofinf, etc. Tout ce qui pourrait me donner des idées pour l'été prochain dans ce pays!!!! Merci beaucoup!!!

J'aimerais avoir des commentaires sur la conduite en Italie. Je compte m'y rendre et utiliser la voiture pour mes déplacements de tourisme. Bien entendu les petites routes seront prévilégiées à 95%.

Tous commentaires me seront très utiles pour la préparation de notre voyage. Autant sur la courtoisie, la vitesse, signalisation, etc..

Moi et ma copine désirons faire un voyage l'an prochain (3-4 sem) et l'italie est probablement notre destination. J'aimerais connaître de beaux coins à visiter tout en prévilégiant les petits villages. (Peux-être 1 ou 2 grandes villes).

Comment est la conduite, facilité d'hébergements et coût (pas trop$$ et sans réservation), peut-on se débrouiller avec le francais et l'anglais, quelle est la période dites "hors saison" mais toujours confortable (temps).

Soit qu'on atterrisse à Nice et faire une boucle en Italie pour revenir passé les cinq derniers jours en Provence, ou à Rome pour revenir sur la Provence.

Nous avons fait une partie de la France l'an dernier et ce fut mémorable, peut-on en espérer autant de l'Italie???

Nous sommes revenus de Punta Cana il y a 3 semaines mais déjà je rêve au prochain voyage l'hiver prochain.

J'ai vu les plages de cayo guillermo, varadero, vénézuéla, puerto plata et punta cana. Mais je ne connais pas Guardelava et il est possible que ce soit notre prochaine destination.

Guardelavaca se compare à quel endroit en ce qui concerne ses plages?

Je pars pour l'Europe au début Mars. En fait je me donne 6 mois pour visiter le plus de pays possible tout en tenant compte que je devrai travailler ici et là...Je pars avec mon copain nous avons pas encore la date du départ tout ce qu'on sait c'est que nous allons en france en tout premier c'est à dire à Paris ensuite nous ne savons pas!!!

Je connais une petite ville assez sympa non loin de Rome (environ 50km) en bord de mer .Ideal pour faire un sejour plage/visite de Rome en excursion . J'ai vécu un an dans cet endroit pour le travail.( et oui !!!) Le train vous y portera directement en 1/2 heure environ et vous n'aurez pas à payer les prix de logement de la capitale. En plus le train longe la mer et c'est vraiment tres tres beau !!! Il y a aussi au départ de cette ville balnéaire possibilité de visiter des parcs protégés qui sont splendides et d'aller dans l'isola di Ponza.

L'endroit est encore peu connu.Ma ville coup de coeur est ANZIO. Juste à côté il y a Nettuno qui est bien aussi !

Nous sommes un couple avec 3 enfants et nous avons 2 projets au choix que nous avons envie de faire en juillet 2004 (tout dépend de vos infos) 😎 le 1er : le Québec en camping car (3semaines) merci de nous transmettre des sites pour la location de ce véhicule et peut-être que quelqu'un a déjà fait ce genre de voyage merci de nous donner ses impressions et ses bons plans. 🙂 Le 2è : la floride en voiture. Arrivée à Miami retour Orlando. durée 15 jours 3 semaines. Si quelqu'un a déjà fait ce circuit merci de nous donner des infos (tours opérateurs; billet avion etc).

Ce site est une merveilleuse découverte. Je l'ai souvent consulté sans oser m'y inscrire mais je tenais juste à vous dire que vous faites un excellent boulot!

Je ne suis pas vraiment une voyageuse, enfin pas encore... En fait si, mais pas une backpacker. Quand je lis ce que des "jeunes" de mon age ont déjà entrepris, j'en suis envieuse. Réaliser un tel reve semble si simple et en fait non. On sort des sentiers battus car nos priorités ne rentrent pas dans le cadre "métro-boulot-dodo", nos proches ne comprennent pas "la folie qui nous prend", ce n'est qu'un "caprice de jeunesse" et n'attendent de vous que l'échec, de rentrer dans les rangs.

Je ne cherche pas à me plaindre ni à juger ceux qui me jugent. C'est juste parfois un peu dur et c'est pour ca que ce site est une aide. Merci d'etre comme vous etes, la motivation vient avec cette impression que tout est possible quand on y croit vraiment. Et j'y crois.

After a pretty disastrous weather-wise trip to Gran Canaria, we’re hoping this time the sun will shine in Puglia. It’s not a sure thing, though—the weather’s been awful all over Europe in early May.

Saturday, May 16: This time we’re flying out of Charleroi (Brussels South): the ticket prices, flight times, and proximity all worked for us. The airport (Ryanair) was recently renovated... but it’s still not very well organized. There are hardly any seats in the boarding areas, and... the restrooms cost money!!! The flight goes smoothly, though, and we land in Bari a little late.

We quickly pick up our rental car, a very local-looking Pandina (even more so than the Fiat 500 in this region), and hit the Italian roads... and their unique driving quirks (like the fact that the countless road signs along the streets and in towns are purely decorative 😏, and that Italian cars don’t have turn signals 😮... except for rental cars).

About an hour later, we arrive at our first accommodation, right in the middle of the countryside near Monopoli. The owner isn’t there, but they’ve left us a ton of info via messages and even turned on the space heater, which is a nice touch. We explore the property:

Sunday, May 17: After our "seaside" experience in Gran Canaria last weekend (packed with people and locals), we decide to start inland. After a hearty breakfast,



we head toward Alberobello, a super touristy village famous for its trulli—those stone houses with conical roofs. We easily find a free parking spot on a street near the Aia Piccola district, where some trulli are still lived in year-round.





We almost immediately come across the Trullo Sovrano (the only two-story one), which you can visit (but we skip it—it’s opening time, and there’s already a line).



From there, we head down toward the Basilica of Cosma e Damiano... but we don’t go in because there’s a mass.



Now we’re on the main Piazza del Popolo, which connects the two districts of Alberobello: Rione Aia Piccola and Rione Monti, the more touristy one.

From what I’ve gathered, if the answers don’t align with what they wanted to hear, it seems natural for the asker to just disappear!! 😕 Unless—(and I fear this is the case)—basic politeness is no longer part of our society????

Day 1 - October 19

When you tell your friends and family you’re itching to escape to the other side of the planet to mingle with the Mongols, you can usually expect a barrage of questionable jokes and terrible puns. For this new adventure, it’s a different destination but the same old story—this time, we’re visiting the "pouilleux" (the "scruffy" ones). We’re taking off straight for Puglia! If you need a cheat sheet to remember where this oddly named place is on a world map, just think of it this way: Puglia is the maiden name on the ID card of the heel of the Italian boot! Personally, I prefer to remember it as the land of creamy burrata, the smell of focaccia fresh from the oven, orecchiette shaped by mamas, golden olive oil that shines like the sun (which beams down here 300 days a year), amaretto that makes you happy, and those famous trulli—those little hobbit-like dry-stone houses straight out of a movie set...

But I’ll stop spoiling the rest of our trip and focus on a factual rundown of this first Puglian day. So, are you joining us on this new adventure beyond our Gallic borders? Either way, Sasha (my youngest) and Luna (Flo’s daughter) didn’t need much convincing to stick with us and keep up the pace!

Our plane drops our little crew in Bari, the site of a famously tragic battle lost in 1991. But revenge is sweet! After renting a motorized carriage, we escape the landing zone and head to our military base of operations: Ostuni, a strategic little town where we’ll set up camp for the next four days. Why Ostuni? First, for its central location, which lets us explore a region packed with must-see gems. Second, for its vibe and beauty, which have earned it quite the reputation. Perched high on a hill, the *città bianca* (the "White City") lives up to its nickname. It literally dazzles visitors. The reason? The whitewashed facades of its houses, a testament to the region’s rich architectural heritage.





We arrived late last night, so only the two bravest soldiers volunteered to scout ahead at dawn, while the younger recruits stayed behind—for now. But not for long! After the first wave of streets and the next round of exploration, headquarters made the inevitable call to retreat. Reinforcements were needed! A few strategic errands, a breakfast ration, and our battalion marched in tight formation, flag held high, to conquer Ostuni the White! *Charge!* In my squadron leader’s memoirs, I’ll write that I didn’t expect Ostuni to put up such a fight. What I thought would take two hours to conquer turned into a humbling experience—we could only bow in respect to its beauty, its relentless charm. The alleys are whiter, more labyrinthine, narrower, and more photogenic than the last. *Veni, vidi, vici*—but what an entrance, my troops!

HIGHWAY 1

Highway 1 runs along the Pacific coast of California from Leggett in the north to Dana Point in the south. It's the longest state route in California, stretching 1,050 km.

It's famous for its breathtaking ocean views. That’s actually why it’s become such a popular route for road trips, with tons of attractions and points of interest all along the way.

After crossing the U.S. interior on our way out (see Road Trip USA 2023 - Part 1), we’re starting our return trip along this route from Leggett.

Hi everyone. Because that’s also what sparks the desire in every traveler (well, at least for me) to set foot on Australian soil: discovering a new continent.

Right now, I’ve got some time on my hands—those who follow me know that. A nasty muscle tear (which really doesn’t want to heal) is keeping me grounded for another week, so I’ve decided to open a new travel journal, recounting my recent trip from December 14, 2024, to January 12, 2025, in Australia.

The origins of this trip started last May in Crete, an island I chose for a 10-day break. It’s really lovely, by the way, but that’s not the point… It’s around this time every year that we decide on our next winter destination, and Argentina was at the top of the list—Sydney wasn’t even on the radar… I’d been looking at flights to Buenos Aires for a while, and the prices were shocking… But by the pool one lazy afternoon, scrolling on my iPhone, a promo from Geneva to Sydney caught my eye. The deal ticked two boxes on my traveler’s bucket list: a flight to Australia and a flight with Singapore Airlines, often ranked as the world’s best airline. A quick chat with the missus (well, of course!) and the decision was made: off to the land of kangaroos! Now, once you add luggage and Economy Plus, it still comes to 1600 € per person, but that’s a reasonable price. Either way, we already know what we’re in for—Australia is a budget commitment!

The Afrosiyob races through a premature twilight, lashed by a blizzard of thick snow. In the endless gray, a monumental industrial complex occasionally emerges, ghostly. Here and there, in the middle of nowhere, a human silhouette appears (a soldier?), standing motionless by the tracks. On the screen mounted in the middle of the ceiling, a dashing Bollywood cat in vibrant colors writhes in all directions, throwing smoldering glances at a dancer on the verge of fainting. A server moves down the central aisle, offering crepes for sale—ones I suspect are stuffed with ground beef. I’m in Central Asia, in Uzbekistan, somewhere between Bukhara and Samarkand.

I chose the title "notes"—scattered thoughts, rough drafts. I’m not sure what I’ll write, but one thing’s certain: this won’t be a linear travel journal.

Here’s the itinerary I’ve planned for this new trip to Thailand:

Arrival – 2 nights in Bangkok (any hotel recommendations? Very quiet, near Chinatown or by the river)

Train or taxi (which app should I use for Thailand?) to Phetchaburi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations?)

Daytime train to Surat Thani – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Pick up the rental car and head to Khao Sok – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Ko Kho Khao – 3 nights – relaxation (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Phang Nga Bay – 1 night (any base recommendations?)

Excursion in the bay, then drive to Krabi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations) or any other spot with beautiful, quiet beaches that you might know?

Return to Surat Thani – overnight train to Bangkok, then Ayutthaya (any hotel recommendations?)

Visit the site and transfer to the airport – sniff, time to head back!

If you have other suggestions, keeping in mind the trip’s vibe: beach time without crowds or entertainment, a bit of nature, a bit of culture, no stress... No domestic flights and charming accommodations (not at 150 € per night, even though the budget is reasonable!)

Not sure I’ll follow them all, but all your ideas are welcome! 😉

A turbulent period came to an end around 2022.

Many of us have returned to big trips after making only very small ones—or none at all. For a little anecdote, my dentist told me that due to the lack of travel, a lot of clients treated themselves to implants they would’ve otherwise skipped. The joy of traveling again probably gave some vacationers smiles they hadn’t dared to show before!

For my part, not being so young anymore, there was definitely relief but no explosion of joy. I just had the feeling of picking up the thread of life after a foggy pause, with the bitter taste that 2 or 3 years of my life had been partly stolen from me.
