Laos –
Pakse Airport Closure - July to September 2009Pakse (PKZ) Airport in Southern
Laos has been temporarily closed for necessary repair and renovations from July 2009 until September 2009. During the closure, nearby
Savannakhet (ZVK) Airport is being used by
Laos Airlines for flights in and out of Southern
Laos.
Savannakhet is approximately 230 kilometres (3.5 – 4 hours or so by road) from
Pakse, and evidently the Airline is providing some limited shuttle services between the two airports. Destination Asia can also arrange for private transfers for clients between
Pakse and
Savannakhet, or alternatively clients can access
Pakse and Southern
Laos via
Thailand’s Ubon Ratchatani (UBP) Airport, located approximately 140 kilometres (about 2 hours drive) from
Pakse across the Chong Mek border check-point.
At this stage we have not been advised of the exact re-opening date for Pakse Airport, however we will post further updates as more information is received.
