We have just returned from our trip and found the following information.
- The price is 158USD per person for a return ticket. It's ridiculously expensive for a 45 minute trip, but it's fast and efficient and cheaper than an air fare to Amman.
- The ferry arrives at Tala Bay resort in Aqaba, NOT the main Aqaba port. It is about 10km south of Aqaba on the way to Saudi Arabia. There are NO taxis waiting there. If you aren't with a tourist company, you have to ask one of the shop owners to call a taxi for you. You can expect to pay 10-15 JOD to get to the main part of Aqaba.
- The ferry is only available to people with tourist companies or who are guests staying at hotels in Taba Heights. It's not open to the general public like the Nuweiba-Aqaba ferry.
- You can only buy a ticket from a travel agent, not from Sindbad the ferry operator. ProTours Travel (httpprotourstravel.com) in Taba Heights sells tickets, and so does one of the hotel representatives Ahmed Tonsy +20 10 662 2394.
- The ferry leaves Taba Heights at 7:30am daily, but the return time seems to vary each day. It's usally between 6:30pm - 7:30pm but you have to ask the staff on the ferry when you depart.
- There is no parking at the Taba Heights port, so if you aren't with a tourist company you need to use a limousine taxi. I tried parking our own car at the Waterworld centre and the security guard told me I couldn't, and the tourist police told me the same thing when I tried to park at the port.
