COMUNICADOPLAN DE OPERACIONES EN LA RUTA A MACHU PICCHU, A PARTIR DEL 29 DE MARZO 2010
Estimados amigos agentes de viaje:
PERURAIL se complace en reconfirmar que a partir del 29 de Marzo de 2010, estará reiniciando sus operaciones, en dos etapas:
ETAPA I
A partir del 29 de Marzo 2010:
- La operación se efectuará únicamente con coches tipo AUTOVAGÓN. A un inicio, no será posible operar locomotoras, por lo cual los servicios Backpacker no estarán disponibles.
Esta restricción de uso de vía ha sido determinada por el concesionario, Ferrocarril Transandino S.A., y se debe a que en muchos tramos se ha efectuado un nuevo trazo de vía y en consecuencia los terraplenes han sido recién conformados. Las primeras semanas solo se autorizará
el paso de los autovagones, por ser vehículos más ligeros (los autovagones pesan 28 toneladas; y las locomotoras, 90 toneladas).
- PERURAIL estará contactando a las agencias de viaje, a fin que las reservas para servicios Backpacker y Backpacker Cerrojo sean reubicadas en los coches AUTOVAGÓN disponibles, al precio que corresponde a cada horario.
- Los servicios disponibles son de tipo bimodal (bus + tren) desde
Cusco y Ollantaytambo con transbordo en Piscacucho (km 82), de acuerdo al horario que se adjunta en el archivo Excel.
- Los precios se detallan en el archivo correspondiente e incluyen el traslado desde/hasta
Cusco y/u Ollantaytambo
- El servicio Hiram Bingham no se encontrará disponible durante esta etapa.
ETAPA II
A partir del 01 de Mayo de 2010 (fecha sujeta a reconfirmación):
- PERURAIL ofrecerá servicios con coches tipo autovagón y también coches jalados por locomotora (incluidos los servicios Backpacker con la demoninación ECONOMICO).
- Estarán disponibles los servicios tipo bimodal (bus + tren) desde
Cusco y Ollantaytambo.
- Los horarios para la operación de esta etapa, se encuentran también detallados en el archivo Excel adjunto.
En los próximos días estaremos definiendo la posibilidad de operación de un servicio especial, alternativo a nuestro servicio de lujo, durante la Etapa II del Plan Operativo.
PERURAIL reitera que los cambios, modificaciones o reubicaciones necesarios se efectuarán en coordinación con los agentes de viaje y serán manejados por su equipo de ejecutivos de reserva.

NOTA: Como ya es de conocimiento público, si bien los trenes estarán operando a partir del 29 de marzo, el Instituto Nacional de Cultura ha anunciado que la Ciudadela Inca Machupicchu será reabierta recién el 1 de abril.

NEWS FLASHOPERATIONAL PLAN ON THE WAY TO MACHU PICCHU
AS OF MARCH 29th 2010
Dear travel agents:
PERURAIL is pleased to reconfirm that as of March 29th, 2010 will be restarting its operations into two stages described below:
Stage I:From March 29th, 2010
- The operation is effected only with cars such AUTOVAGON. At the beginning of the operations, it will not be possible to run locomotives, so the Backpacker train services will not be available.
This restriction has been defined by the rail concessionaire, Ferrrocarril Transandino S.A., due to many parts of the railroad had to be re-built, consequently the first weeks of operation it will only be authorized the operation by using AUTOVAGON because of it is weight (AUTOVAGON has 28 tons as weight and locomotive has 90 tons).
- PERURAIL will contact the travel agents and tour operators in order to relocate the Backpacker and Backpacker Cerrojo bookings to available seats on AUTOVAGON services at the price that corresponds to the time available.
- Bimodal services (bus + train) from
Cusco and Ollantaytambo with transfer in Piscacucho (km 82), according to the schedule attached as an Excel file.
- Prices are listed in the appropriate file and include the transfer to/ from
Cusco and / or Ollantaytambo
- The Hiram Bingham service will not be available during this time.
Stage II:
From May 01st (to be re-confirmed)
- At this stage PeruRail will operate service as AUTOVAGON and regular carriages pulled by locomotives (including Backpackers).
- Bimodal services (bus + train) from
Cusco and Ollantaytambo with transfer in Piscacucho (km 82), according to the schedule attached as an Excel file.
In the following days, PERURAIL will be defining the possibility to set up a especial service which can be used as an alternative to luxury train, during Stage II of this plan.
PERURAIL remains that all changes and relocations will be managed by PERURAIL Reservations team and will be made in co-ordination with the travel agents and/or tour operators.
Please find also attached a map of the route which PERURAIL will be operating.
IMPORTANT: As known, even the trains will be operating from March 29th, the Instituto Nacional de Cultura (local institution in charge of the custody of
Machu Picchu), has announced that the admission to
Machu Picchu will only be possible from April 1st.
