La filière "bois" n'existe pas en PF, tout est importé..... Il existe une scierie à coté de Papeete je crois....Sinon, même les pirogues traditionnelles sont construites en fibre polyester aujourd'hui.
Uturoa est le centre administratif des Iles sous le vent : Hopital, Trésorier Payer, Prison, tribunal...tout y est😉
L'école se passe avec les mêmes programmes qu'en Métropole, mais avec un rythme différent et de"petits" aménagements, comme la danse Tahitienne ou autres......
Dans l'ensemble, la vie y est douce et reste trés calme.😎
Pour le logement, si l'hopital ne te loges pas, tu devrais trouver quelque chose de sympa pas trop cher et assez facilement sur place.
Pour la voiture, le plus simple et d'aller voir un loueur : Hertz ou Avis et de leur demander ce qu'ils ont à vendre. (Les voitures de locations ne peuvent pas étre louées plus de 3 ans...) Si tu dois rester deux ou 3 ans, investis dans une voiture récente, voire neuve. La plupart des occase (autour de 3 ou 4000 euros quand même...😠)sont trés fatiguées et tu risques de passer réguliérement au garage pour une batterie, un embrayage, etc.....🙁

Pour le logement l'hopital ne me loge pas mais j'ai une indemnité de 460 euros tous les mois j'ai regardé unpeu sur le site internet paru vendu les agences il n'y a pas grand chose!!! pour la voiture merci pour le renseignement je n'avais pas pensé aux agences de location!!!!😉
C'est en étant sur place que tu trouveras les meilleurs logements. Prévois de vivre en Pension de famille ou autres pour une semaine ou deux et tu feras ton choix. En ce moment l'immobilier est en chute libre (moins à Raiatea qu'a Bora, je te l'accordes...) Mais tu pourras trouver de trés bonnes affaires en faisant les annonces sur place et par le bouche à oreillle.

Nous sommes 2 adultes et 3 enfants et arrivons le 13 juillet en PF pour un an. Nous habiterions vraisemblablement à Raiatea, pour les écoles (lycée, Collège et primaire). En allant sur Google Hearth, il semble qu'il n'y ai pas de plages sur Raiatea ! Ou alors, ce sont des plages de sable noir comme à Tahiti ?

Un petit bateau...et...hop! Vous voilà sur un joli motu...où vous pourrez jouer les robinsons. Sinon, il y a la plage de Taputapuatea..à qqs kms de Uturoa et ce qu'il est convenu d'appeler "la piscine", naturelle évidemment, en centre ville.
Et puis d'un coup d'aile, vous irez à Huahine, ou Maupiti, ou Bora...hein bobcat???
Ah...il n'y a pas de plage de sable noir à Raiatea. Mais vous savez les plages de sable noir de Tahiti sont de très belles et très grandes plages... Pardonne-moi bobcat, je fais un peu l'article 😉

Effectivement, un p'tit bateau et hop une plongée au bord d'un motu.
De plus je pense qu' il y a des ballades sympa à faire dans les terres pour découvrir la faune et la flore ainsi que quelques belles ballades en montagne.
Il semble relativement difficile de trouver une maison 3 chambres à louer et proche du lycée. Nous avons regardé dans paru-vendu et Tahiti location mais peu de choix.
Je pense que nous allons nous abonner à "la depeche de Tahiti" pendant 4 mois, et eventuellement prendre une pension de famille pour 1 semaine quand nous arrivons.

A Uturoa il y a école primaire et Collège, public ou privé, et Lycée public.
Nous avons inscrits nos enfants en appelant les écoles le soir vers 20h30.
En privé il y a l'école Anne Marie Javouhey qui fait primaire et Collège. Il faut telephoner au 689 600 610 pour le primaire et au 689 600 606 pour le Collège.
En primaire il y a environ 27 élèves par classe, le cout est de 700 fcp / mois (env 6 euros) et la rentrée a lieu le 11 Aout. La fin de scolarité est le 2 juillet. La rentrée est tôt car beaucoup d'enfants retournent chez eux pour Noel, période à laquelle il y a un mois de congé. Nous devons confirmer l'inscription en allant sur place à partir du 3 aout.
Pour le Collège, c'est pareil, 22 élèves par classe, pré-inscription par téléphone et confirmation apd du 3 août. Frais de scolarité 1500 fcp/mois, apel 660 fcp cantine 320 fcp. En classe de 4ème les enfants ont le choix des langues entre Anglais ou Espagnol et Latin en option. Il est indispensable de ramener leur bulletins, avis de passage et certificat de radiation.
Pour les écoles publiques, les démarches sont les mêmes. Le télephone est le 689 66 33 59 (école primaire de Vaitahe).Il faudra fournir un certificat de résidence, une fois installé, que vous demanderez à la Mairie.
Nous avons effectué toutes ces démarches en allant sur différents sites.

Nous habitons près de Lille. Nos enfants ont toujours été dans le privé par choix personnel. Nous arrivons le 12 juillet à Papeete et prendrons ensuite une "correspondance" par avion ou bateau pour Raiatea le même jour ou 1 ou 2 jours plus tard. Nous prenons une année sabbatique et n'avons donc pas de travail. Nous chercherons probablement un peu plus tard, quoi que rien n'est sûr.

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
