Je me permets de poster un premier message sur ce forum, qui sera peut-être un peu flou, mais je suis un peu perdue. Je m'excuse d'avance pour tout ce qui va être écrit un peu en vrac, mais je ne sais pas où trouver de bons conseils, c'est pourquoi je me tourne vers vous!
Voilà, je m'explique : j'ai 25 ans, et je suis actuellement étudiante en deuxième année de BTS Services et Prestations des Secteurs Sanitaire et Social en France (à Bordeaux).
Mon compagnon et moi rêvons de partir vivre aux Etats-Unis, mais nous ne savons pas trop comment nous y prendre. Et, si lui est ingénieur en informatique, et n'aura très probablement pas de problème à trouver du travail, de mon côté, je ne sais pas quoi faire professionnellement parlant :
- Je sais que le BTS (diplôme français) n'est pas très bien reconnu aux USA, d'autant plus que mon BTS est récent et plutôt spécialisé sur le système français (enseignement des différents services déconcentrés et décentralisés, des publics vulnérables et des différentes prestations sociales françaises). Je souhaiterais pourquoi pas m'engager dans une poursuite d'études, mais j'avoue ne pas avoir trop de connaissances au niveau des établissements à viser et de leurs coûts -j'ai l'impression de m'inonder d'informations à ne plus savoir en faire le tri...
- d'autre part, j'ai également en poche le Diplôme d'Etat d'Aide Soignant qui pourrait peut-être me servir aux USA, si je passe certains équivalents... Je ne souhaitais plus exercer ce métier d'où la reconversion en BTS, mais travailler en tant qu'aide-soignante aux USA pourrait me permettre d'avoir un "gagne-pain" (cela vaut-il le coup?)
- j'ai un assez bon niveau en Anglais (je vais passer le TOEIC cette année sur les conseils de ma professeure d'Anglais) et en Français (je vais également passer la Certification Voltaire cette année), et j'aimerais bien si cela est possible être assistante en français, comme j'ai vu que cela était possible là-bas. Mais comment s'y prendre?
Voilà, j'espère que je n'ai pas été trop barbante, j'attends vos diverses expériences et conseils qui m'éclaireront sûrement beaucoup!
Ah, et j'oubliais : pour le moment, avec mon compagnon, on vise plutôt la côte Est des Etats-Unis (on ne connaît pas tout, mais on a l'impression que pour lui ce sera plus facile de trouver un job là-bas).
La façon de procéder est la suivante:
- votre compagnon doit chercher un poste en informatique. Attention à vérifier le coût de la vie en rapport du salaire ($40,000 à New York et autour Palo Alto = $24,000 ailleurs = seuil de pauvreté "réel" - pas administratif mais considéré comme limite du "living wage" -multipliez par 3 s'il a moins de 5 ans d'expérience, par 4 sinon) => on lui proposera peut-être un H1B. Cependant, ces visas sont devenus extrêmement difficiles à obtenir depuis une modification de la loi, et un subterfuge utilisé par des entreprises offshore indiennes pour rafler ces visas et les détourner de leur objectif initial.
Cela lui sera sans doute plus facile s'il arrive à trouver des entreprises dirigées par des Français (start ups), ou qui ont déjà embauché des Français (ex: Quora, par exemple).
S'il obtient un H1B, vous pourrez automatiquement le suivre en tant que H2B.
S'il n'en obtient pas, il peut essayer d'obtenir un poste dans un labo. TOut dépend le type d'études et d'expérience dont il dispose.
Votre situation dépend de la sienne, donc c'est celle qui doit être réglée d'abord.
- Ensuite, vous devrez reprendre vos études. Il faut au moins un Master pour obtenir un H1B, donc vous ne pourrez pas travailler là-bas, ni en tant qu'aide soignante, si en tant que responsable sociale. En revanche, vous pourrez reprendre vos études en community college (c'est ce qui coûte le moins cher mais il faut quand même compter jusqu'à 10.000 dollars par l'an pour l'inscription/les cours) en Nursing, filière qui est très demandée et dans lesquels il y a de la demande. Prévoyez d'amener un descriptif de vos cours de bac (quelle filière?), de BTS? et d'ISI. Vous devez également acquérir un excellent niveau d'espagnol, essentiel au niveau du secteur santé aux US. Plutôt que le TOEIC, vous devrez passer le TOEFL (plus difficile, et qui requiert un entrainement spécifique). Un community college vous demandera entre 61 et 79 pointspour vous inscrire. Nomalement le diplôme s'obtient en 2 ans mais si vous arrivez à bien expliquer et "transfer" (obtenir une équivalence) les cours que vous avez suivis, vous devriez vous en sortir en un ou deux semestre. Afin d'obtenir le diplôme complet il vous faudra 2 années de plus environ.
Sachez que, les Etats Unis ne faisant pas partie de l'espace Schengen, aller y voyager, vivre, travailler, étudier, est compliqué comparé à ce que vous pouvez faire au sein de l'Union Européenne (où vous pouvez vous déplacer très facilement pour travailler sans avoir besoin d'autorisation spéciale, où vous pouvez chercher du travail librement, où vos études seront reconnues, même si généralement on vous demandera de prendre des cours de langue ou d'obtenir un diplôme ou une validation/certification locale.)

Mon compagnon airait éventuellement la possibilité de se faire muter aux USA, son entreprise étant internationale, il va essayer dans un premier temps de jouer cette carte là, ce qui facilitera certainement les demarches.

Pour mes études, je réfléchis pas mal en ce moment, notamment sur la poursuite afin de valider au moins un bac+3... en essayant de généraliser mes acquis.
Après plusieurs discussions sur l'expatriation, j'avoue que ce qui m'inquiète le plus est d'obtenir un visa. J'ai un peu peur que mon compagnon puisse partir et que je me retrouve coincée en France...

Bonjour, si vous n'êtes pas mariés le seul visa que vous pourrez obtenir est le visa B2/B1, qui permet d'accompagner le conjoint mais pas de travailler! Malheureusement, l'immigration américaine n'offre pas de visa dépendant au conjoint non marié, contrairement au Canada qui le fait.
Cependant, rien ne vous empêche de faire les démarches pour obtenir votre propre visa de travail, mais ce sera totalement indépendant de la situation de votre conjoint.
