Bonjour à la communauté,
Nous préparons notre séjour en famille (mon épouse et moi même ainsi que notre fils de 14 ans), tous les 3 plongeurs pour le mois d'août.
Nous avons choisi la destination Philippines sur recommandation d'amis qui ont connu la destination il y a 2 ans, sans être plongeurs, ils se sont régalés.
Nous commençons à nous renseigner sur les différentes îles que nous souhaitons visiter. Nous avons déjà pris pas mal d'idées, entre les différents sites Internet et certains voyagistes que nous avons contactés. Nous souhaitons essayer d'organiser ce voyage par nous mêmes afin qu'il nous corresponde vraiment.
Nous ne sommes pas de grands voyageurs "sac à dos" mais n'aimons pas non plus les endroits trop stéréotypés.
Etant des amateurs de plongée, nous imaginons faire un combiné Moalboal/Bohol puis peut être Camiguin ou Siquijor.
Nous partons 3 semaines, ce qui nous semble juste pour faire trop de destinations.
Nous avons contacté via Internet 2 prestataires qui nous semblent très bien car nous souhaitons vraiment un séjour assez authentique, même si nous avons compris que Moalboal et Bohol sont assez touristiques.
Nous aimons les petites structures, petits hébergements plutôt au coeur de la population en ayant toutefois un confort satisfaisant, les centres de plongée à taille humaine et avec du bon matériel (mauvaise expérience récemment en Thailande). Nous avons trouvé, sur Moalboal, un centre qui nous parait très bien : le Dolphin House, même si le prix de l'hébergement est un peu élevé. Connaissez vous ce centre et cette plage un peu éloignée du tourisme de masse de Moalboal ?
Sur Bohol, nous pensons y passer un peu moins d'une semaine et voulons nous éloigner d'Alona, pour lequel nous n'avons pas lu d'échos très positifs (très fréquenté par chinois et coréens, tourisme de masse, etc). Nous avons donc "présélectionné" l'hôtel Linaw Beach et le centre de plongée Equation, club français situé juste à côté de Linaw. Ces 2 structures nous semblent très bien. L'hôtel parait charmant et le centre de plongée est exactement ce que nous recherchons : petite structure qui offre un vrai service au client, du très bon matériel et leur site nous a vraiment donné envie.
Nous avons cependant besoin de votre aide pour le choix Camiguin ou Siquijor. Nous avons cru lire que les plongées à Siquijor ne sont pas exceptionnelles. Qu'en est il de Camiguin ? Que choisiriez-vous ?

Camiguin est tres sympa pour la plongee...et l'ile beaucoup plus jolie que Siquijor,
et plus de spots aussi! Actuellement joignable que par air a partir de Cebu, avec
Cebu Pacific!

même si siquijor est une jolie ile paisible, il faut bien reconnaître qu'au niveau plongée, c'est un peu le lambda des philippines
évidemment, venant de france ça reste infiniment au dessus, mais j'ai préféré camiguin en plongée
c'est par contre la seule ile où les gens nous dévisageaient sans sourire ou bonjours, on avait été stupéfait par ça, suffisamment pour ne pas avoir envie d'y retourner
moalboal a surtout d'intérêt pour pescador et son sardin run, très impressionnants, un de mes grands souvenirs de plongée
mais pour le reste, Le mur de balicasag m'a laissé bien plus de souvenirs, je pourrais y plonger des dizaines de fois
Après, tourisme de masse à moalboal, vu la taille du village....
pour un séjour très plongée, y'a à penser malapascua aussi, y'a quand même de beaux ploufs à faire, un des rares endroits des phils où voir des requins
Camiguin, sans sourires, ni bonjours???C'est tout a fait le contraire!Je trouve que c'est l'ile ou les gens sont le plus sympa de toutes les Philippines!😎Ton ressenti me semble plutot bizarre...

non non, je parlais bien de camiguin, je sais que ça doit vous paraître surprenant
c'est le seul endroit des phils où l'on se soit senti mal à l'aise dans les rues, sur les routes et mon épouse visayane a eu le m^me sentiment
le seul endroit des phils où nos bonjours n'avaient pas de réponse passé l'âge de 8 ans, on passait sur des routes et on sentait les paires d'yeux qui nous suivaient comme si on était bizarre ou choquant, on a pourtant pas une différence d'age importante
mais je parle de la rue et des routes, c'est sur que dans les resorts et club de plongée....
C'est etonnant en effet, moi je me sens bien integre et ne frequente pas les resorts, mon ressenti est tout autre et la totalite des gens que je fais venir
reviennent rapidement repasser plusieurs jours, voire semaines, tellement ils ont apprecies leur sejour ici.Et tous les expats que je connais sont ravis de vivre
a Camiguin.Perso, je ne connais aucuns autre endroits ou j'aimerais vivre a long terme aux Phils, et je connais ce pays depuis 33 ans maintenant, en long, en large et en travers!Si tu reviens un jour, tu changeras d'avis surement!🙂😉

Merci pour votre réponse. Nous n'avons toujours pas pris de décision quant à Camiguin ou Siquijor. On nous a dit qu'il n'y avait plus de bateau jusqu'à nouvel ordre entre Bohol et Camiguin, nous verrons donc certainement sur place. On nous a recommandé une maison d'hôtes sur Camiguin qui a l'air magnifique : Somewhere else. On aimerait donc quand même bien y aller !
Merci pour votre avis sur Moalboal, c'est effectivement le Sardine Run qui nous motive. Quand à Malapascua, nous ne l'avons pas intégré car le voyage semble long.
Concernant Bohol, nous sommes excités car, effectivement, Balicasag semble offrir de merveilleux sites de plongée. Nous sommes en contact avec le club de plongée Equation qui propose des services vraiment très bien pour leurs forfaits plongée, avec notamment une étude de la biodiversité sur Balicasag et les autres sites de Bohol. Connaissez-vous ce centre ? Ils sont nouveaux mais les avis sur tripadvisor sont top et le contact que nous avons eu par email nous a vraiment donné hâte d'être à Bohol (professionnalisme relevé également avec Dolphin House, c'est aussi pour ça qu'on les a choisis).

Balicasag possède un mu sur un côté qui doit s'appeller, cathedral ou chapel enfin bref un nom à conotation d'édifice religieux qui est de toute beauté, beaucoup de petites grootes ou canyon, des surplombs, pas mal de vie sur le sable aussi dans ces petites grottes
le sardin run, c'est hallucinant, fascinant, vous en oublierez le récif tellement c'est magique
somewhere else je ne connais que de nom et ça a bonne réputation aussi
c'est appréciable d'avoir un internaute qui cherche, il y a tellement de gens qui arrivent genre "on va aux philippines, on n'a pas ouvert une page internet alors faites nous un résumé et un roadbook"

Merci pour votre réponse. Effectivement, préparer un voyage est un peu déjà partir et nous aimons les voyages vraiment réussis ! Les Philippines nous paraissent receler de tellement de choix, de possibilités et du coup autant de prestataires que ce séjour nous parait assez important pour bien le préparer.
Nous avons donc arrêté nos choix et réservé hôtel Linaw, plongées et excursions pour Bohol à Equation, la partie Moalboal à Dolphin House et nous attendons un mail de confirmation sur la possibilité de ferry entre Bohol et Camiguin.
Nous avons hâte de vivre le sardine run et de plonger sur le mur de Cathedrale (le nom apparait sur plusieurs cartes de sites de plongée de Bohol).
Nous ne manquerons pas de poster un compte rendu bien sûr.

Non, il n'y a pas de ferry entre Bohol et Camiguin pour l'instant.Seule possibilite
Cebu Pacific entre Cebu(Mactan) et Mambajao (Camiguin), tous les jours a 6h10,
sauf en cas de typhon comme aujourd'hui, on ressent le passage de"Henry"....
Beaucoup de fortes pluies et grosses bourrasques de vent par periode...

Je confirme:il n'y a plus de boats ni de ferrys entre Camiguin et Bohol depuis debut juin(fin des vacances scolaires), les prochains rentreront en service vers le 20 dec.

je ne sais pas si tu as déjà pris ta décision concernant Camiguin,
moi j'y vais en décembre et aussi sur Bohol mais au départ de Cagayan de Oro.
Pour info je vais utiliser une connexion OceanJet qui fait Cagayan de Oro, Benoni(Camiguin)
et Jagna (Bohol) et vice versa bien entendu.
Voilà si cela peu t'aider.Pour les autres si je suis dans l'erreur avec OceanJet,
prière de me le dire, je ne veux pas avoir de surprises.

non pas en décembre, mais je suis occupé à planifier cela pour mon prochain voyage en mai en principe avec la demoiselle à côté de moi.En principe nous irons à Hong Kong et au retour de Hong Kong, j'ai prévu de passer a Bantayan te dire bonjour.Mais j'ai pas vu de Guiness au tonneau sur ta carte Lol.
Pour le moment tout roule à la SNCB(plus que 5 ans à tirer), vivement une grève.

Bonjour, on se connait?, je suis depuis 1 semaine à Bacolod et je vais en profiter pour aller faire 1 tour à Sipalay.Siquijor;pas évident d'y aller pour ma compagne
Philippine.Apo, c'est pour les plongeurs, je ne plonge que pour pêcher!chacun son truc et retour prevu à Bantayan, mon "coup de coeur"pour 3 semaines et que je conseille 😉.Aprés c'est Cébu pacific, pour je sais pas où.Il y a souvent des vols pour un vingtaine d'euro, car se taper 8 heures ou + en bus, faut avoir le moral!Je l'ai vecu pour Dumaguete, et vers la fin du trajet, le bus s’arrête à chaque fois, qu'une personne le demande, ce qui rend le trajet"interminable".

We’re planning a trip to Thailand for next summer. It’s the rainy season, but that’ll let us explore forest parks (Khao Yai and Khao Sok, most likely) in full bloom and teeming with wildlife. We’d also like to spend a few days on beaches with nearby coral reefs during this trip. That’s where we’re hitting a snag—I’m struggling to find an island or region with favorable weather. I’ve gone through quite a few threads on this forum, but most are pretty old and mention a few names (Tao, Phaluai, Ma, or Phang Nga), though with doubts about visibility or overall appeal. Crowds also seemed like a bit of an issue. Just to clarify, our family has mixed interests when it comes to fish-related activities—some are Level 1 divers, while others are snorkelers only.
Are there any good options in July-August for great experiences in the area?

I’d describe myself as a "former diver." I’ve done around 450 dives in natural environments across different settings. I put diving on hold about 5 years ago due to work/schedule constraints and, let’s say, family reasons. Since then, I’ve still tried to stay in shape with hiking trips, running, swimming, and freediving in protected environments, etc...
I’m planning to get back into the bubbles somewhere this year.

For my trip to Thailand with two teens aged 13 and 16, do you have any info or tips to share? I’d like to go jet skiing, either in Phuket or Koh Samui, but I’d need at least two jet skis since there are three of us. Can my 16-year-old ride alone? Our Bali-Lombok trip is taking shape, but we’d love to wrap up the stay with at least a solid week of snorkeling somewhere the coral is still in great condition. In your opinion, are the Gili Secrets in southern Lombok better than Flores Island, where there are supposedly amazing underwater landscapes?
We’ll be in Dahab again this October—we’ve been going since 1979—to freedive. In 2025, to our surprise, access to the Blue Hole is now paid: on top of the 10 € taxi fare, you have to pay $10 per person to enter the park. So we’re heading outside Dahab to the Three Pools site by bike, rented locally. Is there a bus that goes there, or shared taxis, instead of the tourist taxis? And where can we catch them? We’ve seen big buses full of local families on the site, but we don’t know where to find them. Thanks in advance!

For flight schedules and prices from Bordeaux, and ease of reaching Alexandria by bus/train afterward, I’m considering spending 4 days around Hurghada (direct flight from Bdx).
I don’t think I’ll go for courses to get my Level 1, since I don’t plan to dive often in the future—unless you think it’s better than doing 2 discovery dives in this area (I only have one baptism under my belt, in Koh Tao 15 years ago—amazing! But I’m not targeting trips for diving; I need to go to Alexandria, so this is a chance to get back into diving and snorkeling).
I’m looking for a spot to do some snorkeling, 1 or 2 baptisms, and explore the surroundings. I’ll arrive in early March on the evening of Day 0. I’ll have 3.5 days after that (I’m planning to leave on Day 4 around 4 PM by bus/train).
Is Hurghada completely to be avoided in favor of another area in the Red Sea, or can I still have a nice 3.5 days there? I know places like Dahab are more pleasant, but the convenience and timing of Hurghada appeal to me...
I usually prefer more authentic travel spots and places, but I’m willing to compromise on that if it’s still worth it for the diving.
Or should I only stay 2.5 days and head to Alexandria a day earlier? (I’ve already seen Cairo and Luxor a bit.)

I’m traveling with a buddy, and we don’t really want to spend all our time moving around, so if you have recommendations for one area that’s better than others for diving, that’d be great!
What do you think are the best diving sites? (I’d appreciate an overview of the country so I can decide based on that.)
Compared to my buddy, I love macro photography (nudibranchs, etc.), so I’d also love any tips on that.
And completely unrelated to diving, but I’d also like info on places to visit (national parks, reserves, etc.) to see the local wildlife.

I’m heading to Malaysia from mid-May to mid-August 2025 for nearly 3 months.
With my advanced certification in hand for a few years now, I’m on the lookout for the best dive spots in Malaysia.
I’ve obviously heard about the Perhentians and Sipadan.
Someone mentioned Tioman too, but not necessarily for diving.
Do you have any feedback on these places for diving? (visibility, marine life diversity, etc.)
Any idea about the rates for fun dives?
Dive centers you’d recommend?
Any help would be super valuable for planning the trip, so thanks a million in advance to those who take the time to reply.

I’m looking for a destination in Vietnam for January to spend a week and go snorkeling.

I know Thailand well, and with my Thai friend, we’d like to try a different country.
This is the excursion we shouldn’t have done in Mauritius.
We did it with The Friendly Dodo, but from what I saw, it’s the same with most agencies.
Departure at 6 a.m. (even though the sun rises at 7 a.m. in August). Why? Because there’s only one well-known spot where the dolphins are, and all the agencies race to get there first.
For 45 to 60 minutes, it’s just straight-line navigation to the spot. No one’s looking for dolphins—we’re just speeding there in silence, full throttle.
Once we arrive, there are already 5-6 boats. The dolphins are there, sure. The boats fight for the best position, cutting off the dolphins’ path, and then—go, go, go—everyone jumps in. Not a single instruction is given on how to approach the dolphins respectfully. Result: everyone jumps in at the same time from 3 boats, creating a huge splash, and rushes toward the dolphins. Outcome: faced with this chaos, the dolphins dive, and you can’t see them from the boat anymore. The swimmers who are right in their path might see them pass below for a few seconds at best.
Everyone climbs back onto the boats, and as soon as the dolphins resurface, the same cycle starts all over again.
After 5 or 6 jumps like this (3 of which I didn’t even see the dolphins), it’s back to the port the same way we came.
Not a single explanation is given during the entire excursion about the dolphins themselves or how to approach them.
Safety-wise, I didn’t feel comfortable either with all the boats fighting for position. I bumped into another boat (no pain) while swimming, and I wasn’t reassured about the propellers.
With all this circus, my daughters didn’t even want to get in the water. The problem is, when you stay on the boat, you don’t get much out of it either—because as soon as the dolphins resurface, everyone jumps in haphazardly and scares them off again.
Having done the same kind of outing in Réunion, I can confirm it’s nothing like this (much better organized and ultimately much more rewarding in Réunion).
Under these conditions, this is an activity we never should’ve done! !
My partner and I are heading to Mauritius at the end of October (Tamarin Bay), and one of our wishes is to find a great small-group excursion out at sea to meet dolphins.

I’ve been in Malaysia for a month now and still have two more to go. I started traveling with friends, but I’ll be solo for the next month and a half.
We did a pretty classic route: Perhentians, Cameron Highlands (which I found pointless), Tioman, and Kinabatangan in Borneo. Now I’m thinking of heading to Redang Island—Langkawi is also an option, but it doesn’t appeal to me as much. Any feedback on these two spots?

Any thoughts on the diving there?
So far, I haven’t had much luck with diving—at the Perhentians, it was pretty disastrous with water at 31°C 😵😫
I’d love to find a nice island where I can meet people (locals and travelers) because going from a group of six to solo at the end is going to feel weird.

Je connais un peu Zanzibar pour y être allé il y a plus de 10 ans, ainsi que Pemba (mais les prix ont explosé), et je me tourne aussi vers Mafia.
Est ce propice au snorkeling , des resorts ont ils des house reef où l'on peut voir des choses intéressantes (je ne m'attends pas non plus au niveau de la Sulawesi ou des Raja).

Je pose ma question malgré la situation incertaine actuellement, mais évidemment mon plan de voyage est conditionnel à l'évolution de la pandémie, donc merci de vous abstenir ceux qui me diraient juste de rester chez moi ;)
Donc, je planifie de passer l'hiver au sud de l'Europe, et ou vers les Balkans et j'aimerais savoir si c'est partout de la plongée en eau froide donc avec le drysuit et tout ou s'il y a des endroits qui sont superbes et ou je peux plonger avec un suit plus épais seulement même exemple en février et mars. J'ai lu pas mal ici sur le portugal et malte https://divezone.net/diving/portugal mais j'aimerais l'opinion récente de plongeurs du coin! :)
Ce que j'aime en plongée c'est l'eau claire, les fonds marins attrayants, la vie aquatique particulière, etc. Je ne suis pas une fan d'épaves, mais je considérerai tout les sites / pays proposés :)
