Nous sommes un couple et avons déjà réservé pour septembre 2020 un vol Nice- Johannesbourg et Le Cap-Nice par Qatar Airways (500 €).

J'ai commencé mes réservations (pour le Parc Kruger, plus de places à Skukuza, c'est incroyable ! du coup, j'ai du rajouter des jours à Satara et Lower Sabie mais pas dans les même bungalows ....)

Mon parcours serait :

1 nuit Dullstroom 2 nuits Graskop 2 nuits Satara 3 nuit Lower Sabie 2 nuits Swaziland (Mantega Lodge)

2 nuits PN Hluhluwe : je voudrais réserver 2 nuits au Mpila Camp mais nous n'aurons ni 4X4 ni SUV, juste une voiture compact (pas encore réservé) : pouvons nous quand même accéder au Camp ? et pourrons nous traverser le Parc avec cette voiture ?? (sur leur site, ils disent bien qu'un 4X4 serait préférable)

2 nuits Ste Lucia (si vous avez de bonnes adresses ..)

Vol Durban Le Cap

2 nuits Stellenbosh ou Franschhoek ? 5 nuits Camps Bay

Que pensez vous de mon circuit ?

Nous avons pensé peut être dormir plus longtemps à Ste Lucia et visiter le parc depuis cette destination mais 4 nuits, c'est peut être trop ? ou dormir en dehors du Parc ?

Ce parc vaut il vraiment le coup ? il y a aussi un autre Camp Hilltop, plus facile d'accès mais pas de très bonnes critiques ...

J'ai trouvé plusieurs avis contradictoires.

Comme il ne semble pas possible de passer d'un côté à l'autre sans devoir repayer l'entrée, j'aimerais mieux ne pas me tromper.

Hi everyone, For those who’ve been following me... progress is being made! Anyway, just to recap for the others: I’m leaving Manyeleti (a private reserve) to do a self-drive safari in the main Kruger Park for 2 nights before heading to Blyde River Canyon (sharing all this so you can picture the route). So Satara seemed like a good base for the safari, except that you can only book accommodation in this non-private park through Sandparks to find a camp. Since Satara is fully booked, the only ones with availability for my dates are: Tamboti, Olifants, and Satara—wait, no, Satara’s full—so Letaba, sorry! Any thoughts on these camps? Because I can enter via Orpen and drive north (safari-style), which would let us explore, but: 1/ Too many km if we pick the farthest one, Letaba? If I leave Manyeleti (Honeyguide Mantobeni) after the morning safari, what time do I need to be at the camp by?

It’s all coming together—I just need to pick the camp based on distance, so thanks to all of you for your invaluable help! Dan

Location de voiture à CT...3 dodos a Cape Town, 2 dodos à wilderness , 2 dodos dans le parc de tsitsikama, , 1 dodo à port Elisabeth, vol vers Nelspruit, location de voiture pour le Kruger 5 jours de safari. Retour 1 dodo à nelspruit et vol pour johannesburg et 1 dernier dodo avant le retour au Canada. Question... entre CT et Wilderness, nous avions l’intention d’aller voir Betty’s bay et cap aux aiguilles. Il nous reste 2 dodos à combler avant wilderness..

Que me suggérez vous ... pour les endroits à voir, les choses à faire et vos références pour les 2 dodos restants

We’re a family of 4 adults (2 grown daughters) planning our first trip to South Africa for 3 weeks in August 2025, traveling independently. I’ve been drawing inspiration from several posts on the forum. I’d like to book our flight tickets and nights in Kruger Park as soon as possible since that’s the most urgent part to finalize, if I understood correctly.

Here’s a first draft of our itinerary (with lots of unknowns about what there’ll be to see/do in Eswatini, Lesotho, Durban, etc.—I feel like the Lesotho leg involves a lot of driving).

Hi everyone, I’m in the middle of planning our trip/safari to Kruger in October: - 2 nights in the Manyeleti private reserve (Honeyguide Montobeni) - 2 nights in Kruger for a self-drive safari (which reserve, or where to stay?) - 1 night at Blyde River Canyon (where?) - 2 nights in the Balule private reserve (Imagine Africa Luxury) Then heading to CAPE TOWN. So as you’ve probably guessed, I’m not sure: - where to stay for the BRC and need lodge names - coming from Manyeleti and heading to the BRC, which strategic spot in greater Kruger to choose (I was thinking Satara, not too far) but couldn’t find any available places for October on Sandparc - and which domestic flight destination for Manyeleti from JNB (Hoedspruit?) to arrive at Orpen Gate, - And same question for which airport to fly out to Cape Town after Balule. Two weeks for a Kruger-Cape Town combo is short... but better than nothing 😉 Before booking the flight tickets, two quick preliminary questions (more will definitely follow): Is there a preferred direction (Kruger first or Cape Town first)? Is it better to go during the first half of October, the second half (or the middle 😏), or does the current unpredictable weather make it all pretty much the same in the end?

We’re planning our second trip to South Africa in July 2026. In 2023, we did a loop from Joburg, Golden Gate, Drakensberg, Hluhluwe, St Lucia, Eswatini, Kruger, Blyde River Canyon, and back to Joburg. This time, we’d like to go to Cape Town and do a road trip to Port Elizabeth, then fly back to Joburg to return to Kruger. At this stage of my planning, here’s what it could look like:

D1 to D4: Cape Town and Cape of Good Hope (Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Waterfront, Bo-Kaap, Boulders, Cape Point, Chapman’s Peak Drive). I’ve spotted a few places to stay between Camps Bay and Hout Bay (3 nights). D5 and D6: Either Karoo NP or Hermanus and De Hoop. Any opinions to tip the scales? I’ll admit I’m already leaning toward Karoo (the "wild" vibe of the landscapes and wildlife encounters appeal to me much more than the seaside, which feels less exotic). If we go for Karoo, where should we stay? Inside the park or in Beaufort West? I’ve seen good reviews for Ko-ka Tsara Bush Camp, but maybe it’s better to stay in the Sanparks cottages to make the most of the park? (2 nights) Option B is to do Stellenbosch (though vineyards aren’t great in winter) and/or the Whale Route—Betty’s Bay, Hermanus, De Hoop (2 nights near Gansbaai). D7 and D8: Klein Karoo, Oudtshoorn. Staying at De Cango Guest Farm (2 nights). D9 and D10: Knysna, Robberg Nature Reserve, Tsitsikamma (2 nights in Plettenberg Bay and 1 night in PE). D11: Flight from Port Elizabeth to Joburg at 7 AM and drive to Marloth Park.

For Kruger, I’ve booked 2 nights in Marloth Park, 1 night in Skukuza, 2 nights in Satara, and 1 night in Talamati, which we loved. I’ll book the last night in Graskop later since we want to revisit the Blyde Canyon area.

I’d love all the feedback you can give on my itinerary, especially for days 5 and 6. If you have recommendations for accommodations for 4 people, I’d appreciate those too. Thanks! 🙂

We’re traveling as a family to South Africa for the first time in July (two parents and our four young adult children). We’ve planned a loop starting from Port Elizabeth for 13 days, followed by another loop from Johannesburg with 2 days at Blyde River Canyon and 5 days in Kruger NP.

We’re wondering about the Port Elizabeth loop. Here’s our initial idea: Day 1: Early arrival in Port Elizabeth, morning walk in Tsitsikamma NP, night at Storm River Rest Camp. Day 2: Continue visiting Tsitsikamma NP early in the morning, then Robberg Nature Reserve, night at Ebb and Flow Rest Camp. Day 3: Visit the Wilderness area, night at Ebb and Flow Rest Camp. Day 4: Drive to Hermanus. Several options: Bontebok NP or The Hoop and Cape Agulhas; night in Hermanus. Day 5: Coastal trail, boat trip (?), night in Cape Town. Day 6: Table Mountain, Bo-Kaap, Waterfront; night in Cape Town. Day 7: Cape Peninsula, night in Cape Town. Day 8: Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden, Matjiesfontein; night in the area. Day 9: AM: Karoo NP; night in Beaufort West. Day 10: Karoo NP; night in Beaufort West. Day 11: AM: Camdeboo NP; night in Graaff-Reinet. Day 12: Morning: Camdeboo NP; drive to Addo Elephant NP; visit depending on arrival time; night at Addo Elephant Rest Camp. Day 13: Addo Elephant NP; night in Port Elizabeth. Day 14: Early flight.

Does this seem balanced and suitable for July? It’s quite packed, but we’ve already had to skip quite a bit. Initially, would it be better to spend 2 nights in Tsitsikamma and just one in Wilderness? Or just one night at each to free up a day for something else?

For the car, is a minivan enough, or should we plan at least an SUV for the parks given the season?

I was thinking of continuing the questions from my first post, but since the title was changed... I’m starting a new thread

The plane should land on Saturday around 11 AM. After collecting luggage and the car, I think we’ll leave the airport between 1 and 2 PM. Question #1: Where should we stop along the way, allowing some buffer time so we don’t end up driving at night if the flight is delayed? (The idea isn’t to sightsee but just to take a break while making progress toward Kruger.)

We’ll spend part of Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (a little over 4 days) in Kruger. Questions #2 and beyond: What route should we take? I’ve considered two options: either enter from the south (Malelane Gate?) and head north up to the Olifants area to exit at Orpen Gate. How many accommodations should we book in this case, and where? Or enter at Orpen Gate and exit near Hazyview (or the other way around, and near Hazyview, should it be Paul Kruger Gate or Phabeni?). In this case, it would allow us to spend 2 nights in one place and 2 in another, but we’d skip the south (or is it possible to visit it in a day?) Well, for accommodations (accessible by sedan), all suggestions are welcome… but I’ve checked October availability, and there aren’t many left 😕 I plan to spend Thursday in the park and exit before it closes to sleep outside, which would save time the next day for the drive to the airport. I was thinking of Hazyview (again, no sightseeing since we already visited the area in 2009), but do you have another/better idea?

For clarity, here’s a summary of the Kruger part: Day 1: Arrival in Johannesburg and drive to ? Day 2: Enter Kruger (likely late morning or early afternoon) Days 3, 4, and 5: Kruger with exit at the end of Day 5 Day 6: Drive to the airport for the Cape Town and surrounds portion

Regarding Kruger bookings, it seems (I lost my old notes when my hard drive crashed—I backed up work documents but not vacation ones, what a mess!) that you can monitor reservations, and if a preferred accommodation becomes available, you can book it and cancel the old one. Is that still the case? (And is it easy to do?)

Hello, We’re a group of four seventy-something retirees and we’re planning a 4-week trip to South Africa. We’re seasoned "adventurers" used to multi-week stays (we’ve been to India seven times, Mexico, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Australia, etc.).

For South Africa, we’re thinking of covering most of the trip in a private vehicle and taking flights for inter-state transfers. We’re interested in meeting people, learning about the country’s evolution, exploring major cities, visiting traditional villages, and seeing wildlife.

Could you share your thoughts on this itinerary? We’ll be renting a vehicle to explore both regions. We can easily add 4–5 more days to the trip if needed.

We’re looking at traveling either between April and May 2026 or in October/November 2026.

Nous avons déjà réservé nos billets d'avion, nous avons pris un billet multi-destinations avec une arrivée au Cap et un départ de Port Elizabeth. Nous louerons donc une voiture, pour l'instant j'ai repéré Tempest car hire qui a de bons tarifs.

Hi, I’m starting to plan a great trip for the last three weeks of January 2027 (my first time in South Africa). After spending a few hours (!) browsing this forum, here’s a rough first draft of my itinerary:

D0 Arrival at JNB D1, D2 Blyde River Canyon D3, D4, D5, D6, D7: Kruger D8, D9, D10: St Lucia and surrounding area D11, D12, D13, D14: Drakensberg + Lesotho

D15 A very long driving day to the south (hope the AC doesn’t break down!)

D16, D17, D18, D19 southwest coast (so far I’ve noted Oudtshoorn, Robberg Nature Reserve, Wilderness NP, De Hoop Reserve, and a bit of the wine route) D20, D21 Cape Town (peninsula and a bit of the city) + domestic flight and return flight (departure from JNB at 11 PM)

A few questions before refining this: - Do you see any major issues with this itinerary?

- We don’t have a choice on dates, and personally, I prefer green landscapes to desert ones anyway, but do you really see far fewer animals in January than in the dry season? Five days in Kruger should give us enough time to spot plenty of different animals despite the tall grass, right? As for the heat, we’re from Réunion, so we’re relatively used to it, even though I know it’s not the same type of heat.

- Can I trust the distances and driving times given by Google Maps?

- Picking up the vehicle in Johannesburg and dropping it off in Cape Town: how much might that cost us? I’m thinking it probably won’t be worse (in terms of time or money, since there are five of us—2 adults + 3 kids) than going back to Joburg after Lesotho, taking a flight to Cape Town, and renting another vehicle... but maybe I’m wrong.

- Finally, wouldn’t it be better to focus on just one of the two regions (either the northeast or Cape Town and the south coast)? If it were up to me, I’d stick to the first part and extend a few stops... but not everyone agrees! And we’re thinking that since it’ll be really hot, a second part of the trip that’s a bit """cooler""" would be welcome.

Si la Covid-19 le permet, nous aimerions passer 3 mois en Afrique du Sud (le pays). Nous y serions du 05 janvier au 5 avril 2021.

Après la lecture du Routard, et la lecture de l’équivalent d’une année de messages sur ce forum, les questions fusent et nous sommes de - en - sûrs de savoir comment départager ces 3 mois...

Avant d’entrer dans le vif du sujet, un peu sur nous:

Aimons nous retrouver dans des milieux naturels, le + loin possible des foules (on est Canadiens, après tout...). On aime voir des animaux sauvages et non pas dressés à donner la papatte ou à prendre la pause.

On aime (et on est habitués) de faire du camping « sauvage » (sans bloc sanitaire ou électricité), mais on peut aussi se résoudre à passer quelques nuits dans un enclos pour humains à l’intérieur des parcs nationaux. Ils sont chez eux, pas nous. On oublie les lodges à 600 euros la nuit.

On est vraiment pas obligés de voir le cap de Bonne-Espérance, Robben Island ou des colonies de manchots... si ça veut dire de faire l’impasse sur des lieux isolés, peu fréquentés mais dignes de détours.

On aime bien louer des voiture question d’aller où bon nous semble, d’avoir nos équipements prêts et à portée de mains, et surtout de pouvoir garder une réserve de nourriture pour les jours (bénis) où il n’y a pas de Walmart à l’horizon...

Nous pensons qu’il serait très sage de laisser tomber la Namibie et le Botswana (autres voyages à venir?) et de se concentrer sur l’Afrique du Sud, mais devrions-nous nécessairement mettre le Lesotho et le eSwatini au programme?

Je pose la question, car ces 2 pays semblent avoir beaucoup à offrir, mais nous risquerions (peut-être) de manquer de temps et beaucoup de belles choses/lieux en Afrique du Sud en contrepartie?!?

Une certitude: nous ne reviendrons PAS dans ce pays pour une seconde visite. Merci, de ne pas demander: pourquoi?

Donc, on inclus ces deux enclaves ou pas?

On a pensé à cet itinéraire mal dégrossi:

Arrivée à Jo’burg, location d’une voiture ou 4 X 4 et faire 1 mois dans le Nord-est (Kruger, entre autre) puis remettre la voiture. Prendre un vol pour Durban ou Port Elizabeth ou Port Edward, louer une voiture et faire moitié-moitié région côtière et intérieur des terres (s’il y a effectivement de quoi se mettre sous la dent, d’autant plus qu’on déteste faire de la plage...) faire 1 mois , remettre la voiture. Prendre un vol pour le Cap, louer une voiture et explorer les grands alentours en 1 mois (s’il y a quelque chose également à se mettre derrière la cravate...) Vol de retour vers Jo’burg.

Un autre itinéraire pourrait comprendre 1 semaine (ou +) au Lesotho et 1 semaine (ou +) au eSwatini et on rognerait 2 semaines (ou +) en Afrique du Sud proprement dite.

Donc, on oublie: plages, visites de vignobles, et réserves animalières avec animaux à toucher qui rugissent sur demande.

Par contre, on prendra bonne note des endroits perdus et hors des sentiers battus que vous avez aimé. Oui, oui... On est sérieux: + c’est éloigné de tout, plus on aime!

On notera aussi les randonnées pédestres guidées ou non, les réserves animalières qui respectent les animaux (si ça existe...).

Désolé, je suis de plus en plus misanthrope, et ça transpire des fois un peu trop...

nous envisageons un safari en mode assez "luxe" en Afrique du Sud en septembre/octobre prochain 2020

tout d'abord, selon vous, votre expérience, est ce une bonne période ?

Nous aurons visiter la Namibie en juillet, mais sommes très attirés par le côté safari en ce moment.

nous envisagons d'attérir à Johansbourg, de passer 3 nuits dans la région de Blyde canyon ( je crois que la route y menant est sympa, cascades, grotte à visiter ?! ), nous aimerions aussi y faire qq randos si possible?!

puis 2 nuits dans le parc kruger ( ou 3 ! )

et enfin 2 nuits dans la réserve privé de Sabi ( ou 3 ! ).

je ne voulais pas trop me précipiter, mais en budgettant mon projet, je m'aperçois qu'il y a DEJA très peu de place dans la réserve privée de Sabi, et que si nous osuhaitons y dormir il faudrait réserver dès maintenant ...

du coup, avez vous eu la chance d'y être allés? que pensez vous du choix de notre itinéraire ? serons nous déçus par rapport à Etosha en juillet ?

From what I’ve gathered through my reading, I understand there are two ways to visit the park: - Independently with your own vehicle => Do you drive all day? - By booking with a professional => Safari early in the morning and late in the afternoon. But what do you do in between?

When it comes to accommodations, the options are: - Booking in one of the park’s camps, where the lodging is basic but functional - Booking in a private reserve, which is more comfortable but prohibitively expensive - Booking outside the park, which means entering the park every morning. But if you want to stay for 3 days, that doesn’t seem practical to me. Do you have any advice for accommodations?

nous préparons notre voyage en ADS et n’étant pas habitué a ce continent je viens solliciter vos avis et conseils.

Notre objectif est prioritairement de profiter du parc Kruger et des golfs. Nous pensons partir de Bordeaux le 09 sept 2020 pour atterrir a JNB le 10. nous repartirons le 28 sept de JNB retour bordeaux

1- le voyage : je trouve des vols BOR - JNB pour 820 € pour deux personnes en A/R avec 1 valise soute et le transport de nos clubs de golf gratuit. durée du vol environ 14h avec escale a CDG. pensez vous qu en attendant un peu nous pourrons trouver de meilleurs offres ?

2 - notre périple location de voiture sur l ensemble du séjour, si vous avez une adresse pour louer en toute sécurité a prix discount je suis preneur

a- arrivée a Jobur le 10/09. Nous pensons rester 4 jours afin de découvrir la ville + Pretoria + soweto. nous recherchons un airbnb un peu classe (piscine, parking etc) proche du centre de JNB. avez vous un quartier a me préconiser ? ou encore mieux une adresse ? je pense que nous utiliserons les bus rouge (type anglais) pour faire un tour de la ville puis une visite avec un guide français pour soweto (si vous avez un bon plan je suis preneur).

b- kruger sur 8 jours en réservant sur le site national du kruger 4 camps. Nous entrerons par Punda Maria, Olifan, Satara, Lower sabie. 2 jours sur chaque camps qui sont dotés d une piscine, restau et superette. l idée et d aller du nord au sud en ayant du temps et de profiter sans être pressé. nous prendrions les bungalows 2 personnes. si vous connaissez pouvez vous me dire si c est propre, agréable etc.

c- région de leopard creek, Nelspruit 5 nuits ou nous cumulerons les paysages+ golf. Je recherche un airbnb de qualité permettant de passer ces 6 jours de façon confortable.

d- retour pour 2 nuits a JNB pour du golf exclusivement

notre budget a cette heure pour 6 golfs 2 personnes est de 4000 € hors repas. je recherche des logements sur JNB et Leopard Creeks entre 50 et 100 € par nuit pour 2 personnes.

enfin si vous avez des idées de visites je suis preneur. Nous avons fait le choix de ne pas aller au cap afin de limiter les transports aériens, temps perdu aux aéroports et profiter du golf. Le cap et la région sud de l ADS fera l objet d autres vacances.

Or , même si c’est encore prématuré , je vois de plus en plus approcher le moment où il nous faudra annuler ou reporter notre voyage . Si malheureusement c’etait nécessaire , comme il n’est pas question d’annuler , je sollicite votre avis sur la période la plus favorable pour un éventuel report : Soit avril - mai ou octobre 2021 ? Hi there, In two months, I’m heading off for 4 weeks with three backpacker friends to South Africa, Lesotho, and Eswatini. We’ve got our round-trip flight tickets from France to Johannesburg and plan to drive from Johannesburg to Cape Town and back to Johannesburg in an SUV or 4x4. For other city trips, we’ll use local transport or Uber. That’s the plan for our transportation.

For the car rental, I’d like to know which company to book with. Can anyone give me some tips on renting a vehicle and crossing into Lesotho and Eswatini?

I’m really interested in traveling to South Africa in September 2020. My question is whether I should go on an organized tour or plan my own itinerary. Organized trips are pretty expensive $$$$, but the security aspect reassures me. I’d love to hear your thoughts on safety in South Africa and whether it’s easy to arrange activities like visiting vineyards, Cape Town, and going on a safari on our own. Which is better in terms of cost—booking an organized trip or doing it ourselves? It’s definitely less exciting to follow a group for 10 days. We’re a couple in our 50s who love nature. 😊🦁

Nous partons en couple fin janvier 2020 en Afrique du Sud pour 5 semaines.

Pour notre 1er voyage dans ce grand pays, nous avons choisi de ne pas courir et d'explorer l'ouest du pays : régions du Cap Occidental (péninsule du Cap, West Coast, Cederberg, Winelands, Garden Route, Karoo), du Cap Oriental (Côte, Addo Elephant NP, Amathole, Wild Coast, Highlands), et peut-être du Cap Nord (Kagalagadi Transfrontier Park, Augrabies Falls).

Nous avons des billets Paris / Le Cap aller-retour. Nous allons passer 2 à 3 jours au Cap puis allons louer une voiture pendant 30 jours.

J'ai plusieurs questions à poser à ceux qui connaissent le pays : 1 - Nous voyageons "lentement". Est-ce que nous aurons le temps d'aller jusqu'au Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park ? ou est-ce que vous nous conseillez de rester dans les régions du Cap Occidental et du Cap Oriental ? 2. Nous arrivons au Cap vers 23 h. Est-ce que vous nous conseillez de réserver un hôtel près de l'aéroport et d'y aller avec la navette de l'hôtel ou de réserver un hôtel dans le centre et d'y aller en taxi ? 3. Nous allons louer une voiture de type "berline moyenne". Est-ce que nous pourrons rouler sur des routes non goudronnées ou est-ce qu'il y a, comme en Australie, une clause qui l'interdit ? 4. Nous conseillez-vous d'emporter du matériel de camping pour dormir dans les parcs ? (tente, sacs de couchage, matériel de cuisine)

After going through a good chunk of the forum and travel journals about South Africa, I think my itinerary is ready...

I’ve planned 2 days with long drives to minimize time spent outside the parks. These are Sunday the 18th: Johannesburg Airport to Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Reserve, and Friday the 23rd: St. Lucia to Nelspruit (staying in South Africa) or as close as possible to visit the Canyon the next day.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the itinerary, especially these 2 days—are they doable or not? Should I book in advance, or will there be places to sleep along the way if we don’t make it to our planned destination? What’s the crowd level in South Africa in October?

As for Kruger, I’ve chosen campsites with camping facilities, prioritizing the "satellite" camps, at least in the northern part!! I’ve planned to change camps almost every day to combine travel and wildlife spotting, but is this the right choice?

Troisième road trip en 4X4 en préparation pour Août, après 2007 et 2012 . Arrivée en milieu de journée a JNB le 29/07, pour plus de confort nuit sur place. Je pense attaquer directement par le KTP pour 4/5 jours que l'on adore, avec si possible deux nuits en satellite camp, souvenir d'une expérience inoubliable à Garaghab. C'est là que ça se complique, on aimerais bien aller faire un tour en Namibie ou au Botswana avant de finir par le Kruger pour encore 5/6 jours. Vol retour le 13/08 au départ de JNB.

For her 70th birthday, my mom will receive—as a gift—a trip to South Africa at the end of May 2025. We’ll arrive and depart (13 nights later) from JNB on Air France AF990/AF995. We’ll obviously rent a car for certain parts of the trip. I’ve been to the Cape Town area and as far as Agulhas twice, but she’s never been to South Africa before. She might enjoy a day or two of safari, but it’s not a priority for her. I’m well aware that trying to pack in too much is risky, which is why I’m looking for your advice on itineraries, safety, and health (status of the Marburg virus). So far, which combinations of these visits (in no particular order) would be doable and most enjoyable for her at a reasonable pace:

1-day excursion to Pilanesberg Park (+ Hartbeespoort on the way back if possible), self-drive or with a tour guide? 2 nights around the Panorama Route self-driving Garden Route from/to George/PLZ for 5 nights (what are the must-sees for a first-timer with so little time?) Wine region for 2 nights (is it worth doing both the Stellenbosch bus tour and the Franschhoek Wine Tram the next day, or vice versa)—she loves good wine! Cape Town for 2 nights (is it worth stopping at the Cape of Good Hope if—only if—you’ve maybe already been to Agulhas?).

This would give a final itinerary like this:

Day 1: Morning arrival in JNB—rest day/to be defined Day 2: Guided game drive excursion to Pilanesberg Park Day 3: Flight JNB–Port Elizabeth, pick up rental car, drive to Tsitsikamma Day 4–6: Garden Route: activities to be defined Day 7: Transfer to Franschhoek: Wine Tram in the afternoon Day 8: Taxi to Stellenbosch for the Vine Hopper bus tour Day 9–11: Transfer to Cape Town: activities to be defined Day 12: Flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit or Nelspruit Day 13: Visit the Panorama Route Day 14: Flight from Hoedspruit or Nelspruit to JNB, then evening flight back to France

Given the time spent on the Garden Route, what are the must-sees? Same question for the Panorama Route? In general, she prefers beautiful walks with incredible landscapes/views and cultural visits over big cats, but it would be a shame not to see some local wildlife like meerkats, whales (I doubt it in May), or penguins during her stay! Et voilà... Nous voilà repartis sur un nouveau voyage en perspective auquel on a pas pu résister. En effet, Qatar Airways avait lancé une offre de 10 000 billets gratuits (juste les taxes à payer) pour les soignants (je suis infirmière) On n’a hélas pas réussi à avoir un code promotionnel mais quelques semaines plus tard on a reçu un code promotionnel à 50% et on a saisi l opportunité. Sur le fil du rasoir, on a réussi à avoir deux billets aller retour et on s est décidé pour 15 jours dans la région du cap en Afrique du Sud du 16 au 30 novembre. Il y a évidemment un risque d annulation si COVID-19 mais les billets seront alors reportés. On part donc sur un road-trip en 4x4 avec matériel de camping pour alterner nuits en camping et hôtel. On va se concentrer sur la région du Sud et je suis donc preneuse de vos lumières... A vos stylos !!!
