Hi everyone,

I’m finalizing my trip starting from Namibia. When I arrive in Divundu, I’d like to head straight to the Khwai area early in the morning to one of the campsites in the Khwai Development Trust. Is the drive doable with a good 4x4 in a day? We’ll spend 2 nights in Khwai, then 2 or maybe 3 nights in the Moremi area (Third Bridge/Xakanaxa/Mboma) before heading back to Maun to wrap up our journey. Is that too much time to spend in each place?

We’d also like to do one or two boat excursions in the delta. Any suggestions for the best options and operators?

Thanks in advance for your tips and advice! Best, Patrick

Hi there, What time of year are you planning this for (daylight hours, road conditions, rainfall, water level in the delta)? Will you have a rooftop tent? Five days planned in Khwai/Moremi seems like enough to me to skip one and add a stop on the way from Divundu (Linyanti, for example). Which route are you thinking of taking?

Hello Jean-Luc, Our trip is planned for July 2026 (the flight and car are already booked). We’ll have a 4x4 like a TOYOTA HILUX with a roof-top tent (Bushlore). Looking at the map, I’m thinking of adjusting my route by taking a transition day from Divundu to Maun via the paved road, then heading to the Khwai area the next day (2 nights), followed by the Xakanaxa area (2 nights), and finally returning to Maun to wrap up our stay. Thanks for your email. Patrick
