New rules to protect local airline clients

The Transport Ministry has issued new rules to protect clients of domestic airlines. They include quick compensation for canceled and delayed flights as well as in-flight injuries or deaths.
Deputy Minister Vichet Kasemthongsri said the rules issued on Dec 24 require swift refunds for cancelled and delayed flights. Passengers must be informed of a canceled flight at least 24 hours in advance.
In case of a delayed flight, the airline must find another flight with another airline if passengers want one.
Airlines must compensate injured passengers within 30 days. Compensation for a death must be paid in 10 days and amount to at least 100, 000 baht. The initial compensation will not limit the right of passengers or their relatives to sue.
Airlines which fail to abide by the rules will be fined at least 20, 000 baht and face an additional fine of 1, 000 baht a day until it complies. It could also lose its licence.
Mr Vichet said airlines were happy with the changes. More travellers were likely to use domestic flights as more low-cost airlines were starting.
Ton agent de voyage n'est visiblement pas au fait de ces nouvelles règles, tu devrais lui en parler.
