Hi, It's all in the title... I'm looking for tips on how to transport spices. In other words, I'm looking for small containers to carry them in.

I read on a blog that you could use Tic Tac boxes... but honestly, I don’t want to buy Tic Tacs just for that. I checked at D4 but didn’t find any suitable containers. If you know any handy tips or practical containers, I’d love to hear them! :D

Thanks

Hi! I use a kit of small boxes I bought to store homemade beauty products—it’s from a perfume shop, I think. You can find them on Amazon or elsewhere; they’re like those little cachou tins (a reference for folks over 20). Try searching for "empty cosmetic jar" or "empty cosmetic pot."

Hey HYB59,

If you don’t wanna eat hundreds of Tic Tacs, maybe you can stuff yourself with chocolate instead: the containers from the toys in Kinder eggs can work too 😉

You can also use a pill organizer. I’ve also used small plastic bags. Wait for Halloween to hand out Tic Tacs...

Oh wow, great call on the pill organizer and the Kinder eggs! Such awesome ideas. Thanks

Pill-style medicine boxes or tablets... reasonably airtight... plus, they're free - and if you're healthy, you can always swipe some from Grandpa... NB: In this "all-plastic" era, you can always find pretty airtight containers for all our bike-traveling needs

Hi Reynald, The "Vieux Campeur" sells a 6-compartment spice box. Not exactly cheap, though. 😕 https://www.auvieuxcampeur.fr/boite-epices-6-compartiments.html

Personally, I take pre-spiced couscous semolina with me—it goes with everything and cooks in just a few minutes. The only thing you need to add is salt.

Otherwise, at Aroma-Zone, there are quite a few empty bottles at low prices:

Glass or plastic, they’ve got everything.

You’ll be able to pedal with some spice. Not at the same time.

I know, it sounds old-school, but those film canisters... Ask a photographer.

They're not food-grade plastic, they previously held chemical emulsions, and time affects their stability.

Hi there! Your question comes at the perfect time—I just finished writing a full article on Moroccan spices where I cover how to store them. For transporting your spices by bike, here are some practical solutions I’ve tested:

Small glass jars with airtight seals (like mini Le Parfait) Recycled metal tea tins (often sturdier than Tic-Tacs) Travel pill organizers (super handy since they’re compartmentalized) Small camping spice containers (lightweight and leak-proof)

By the way, in my article on Moroccan spices, I go into detail about the best ways to store spices day-to-day. If you’re interested, feel free to check it out here: https://www.marocnomades.com/epices-maroc/ The key is to use airtight containers that fit your needs. Just avoid plastic since it can absorb odors over time. Hope these suggestions help! Let me know if you have any other questions 😊
