We’re planning a trip to the U.S. in January, with the constraint of needing to be in Washington by February 3rd... Normally, I’m not big on museums or indoor visits, but I think I won’t have much choice in January.

Just to clarify, I’ve already visited NYC (didn’t love it) and Philadelphia (one-day trip, and I *loved* it). My partner has never been to the East Coast.

My initial idea was to drive from NYC to Washington by rental car, stopping in Lancaster County (and a quick detour to Strasburg as a Strasbourger—😁). But the rental car prices are sky-high, plus the hassle of parking (you have to stay on the outskirts of cities to find a spot) and the winter weather. Accommodations around Lancaster were also pretty expensive, so I’ve tweaked the original plan...

Here’s our current itinerary: - Day 1: Arrive in NYC around 4 PM - Days 2–5: NYC - Day 6: Take the bus to Philadelphia, explore Philadelphia - Day 7: Visit Lancaster County with a day rental car from Philadelphia - Day 8: More time in Philadelphia - Day 9: Take the bus to Washington - Days 10–12: Explore Washington - Day 13: Fly home at 10 PM

My main questions: - Is it easy to visit Lancaster County in a day from Philadelphia with a day rental car? - Is there any point in adding a day in Baltimore? - Does this seem logical, or am I missing too much compared to my original plan of driving from NYC to Washington? - Any winter-friendly sightseeing tips for these cities?

On foot, it seems tricky, and the shuttles don’t really appeal to us. Is it better to skip Shark Valley and focus on Loop Road? Is the day too ambitious with the drive back to Fort Myers Beach? I wanted to avoid Naples because I’d prefer to stay two nights in each place to avoid changing hotels every day. Last October, we landed in Marrakech to spend a few days with family exploring Morocco’s roads. Transport: a rented Dacia. Accommodations: small guesthouses.

Our first stop was just a few kilometers from Marrakech, at a lovely house perfect for relaxing and recharging before continuing. It’s called Bleu House, a little paradise on the outskirts of Marrakech. The welcome was very warm, with a beautiful pool and a lovely garden.

Next, we headed toward the Tichka Pass. The road has really improved in recent years—it’s much easier to drive now. No more getting stuck behind trucks, and today, the construction is practically finished.

Morocco has turned green after the recent rains. It’s a joy for the herds and shepherds.

About the Inside Passage—has anyone here done it? Our only concern is the weather for that boat day between Prince Rupert and the northern part of Vancouver Island. Under clear skies, the landscapes are stunning. If it’s foggy or mediocre weather, well, we’ll have given it a shot! Just know you *have* to book the car passage way in advance.

Hi everyone, I’m a die-hard fan of India, but it’s time I discovered Thailand too to broaden my Asian horizons. I’m heading there on January 19, 2025, for a 46-day trip (no visa needed as I’m French). I’ve pored over a few guidebooks and travel blogs. Based on what caught my interest, I’ve put together a rough itinerary and list of sights. But since I know absolutely nothing about Thailand, I’m kind of flying blind here. Since I’m not exactly a spring chicken anymore, I’ve opted for a few bases where I’ll stay several days in the same place. That way, I won’t have to change locations and hotels every day or so, packing and unpacking my suitcase constantly. Instead, I plan to explore the surrounding area each day, within a maximum radius of 50 to 70 km. So, first question: Is that kind of round-trip distance manageable in a day in Thailand? In India, renting a car for a day—with a driver—currently costs around 35 to 40 € per day. Knowing that 1,300 to 1,500 THB would be my absolute max, and even then, only if I don’t rent a car every single day. Which brings me to my second question: Am I being unrealistic? Otherwise—third question—once I’m settled in the city I’ve chosen as my base, can I get around within that 50–70 km radius using public transport? I’ve already booked all my hotels—with free cancellation—on booking.com at an average price of 950/1,000 THB per night. Does that put me in a good range for value for money? Or am I dreaming?

I’d finish with Velavadar and then back to Ahmedabad to catch a train or flight back to Mumbai. 😊 What do you think of this 6-week itinerary? I’m planning our upcoming family trip to China in August 2025—two adults, two kids (11 and 13), and a one-year-old baby.

As I organize the trip, I’d love your advice. Here’s my itinerary: - Arrival in Beijing on 02/08, staying until 07/08 (five days) to visit the city’s must-see spots without rushing too much with the baby. - After that, either by train or plane, we’ll head to Shenzhen for four days to explore the city and enjoy some attractions with the kids. - Then, Yangshuo for three days to relax a bit from the city hustle and visit the Li River and its surroundings. I haven’t looked into transportation from Shenzhen yet, but I think it’s easily accessible. - Our last day in China will be in Guangzhou (Canton). If possible, I’d like to visit the Huangteng Gorge Skywalk on the same day, or add an extra day for it. I don’t want to do a private tour because it’s extremely expensive, so any great tips combining train/taxi are welcome.

My partner and I are heading to Japan for the first time from mid-December to mid-January for 31 days. It’s a long-held dream we’ve been saving for over two years, and we want to enjoy ourselves while also being mindful of our budget for parts of the trip. We’d love to explore Tokyo, but we’ve chosen to spend more time in nature. My partner plans to get his driver’s license translated locally so we can rent a car. We’ve heard from friends who’ve been that Japan isn’t the best place for improvisation, so we’ve tried to allow plenty of time in each location to avoid rushing. Still, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the itinerary we’ve planned—whether it’s feasible in terms of travel and how interesting it seems. Given the recent increase in the JR Pass price and the fact that we’ll spend about ten days on Goto, Ojika, and Yakushima (where the JR Pass doesn’t cover travel), we don’t think it’s worth it for us. Instead, we’re planning to take the train from Tokyo to Fukuoka and then use buses and ferries for the rest of Kyushu. Here’s our itinerary:

1- December 13 / Arrival in Tokyo, one night in Tokyo, then departure for Fukuoka by train on the morning of the 14th.

2 - December 14-16 / 2 nights in Fukuoka, sightseeing, then departure on the evening/night of the 16th by ferry to Ojika Islands.

3 - December 17-21 / 4 nights on Ojika, cycling and exploring, then departure on the 21st by ferry to Fukue on the Goto Islands.

4 - December 21-24 / 3 nights on the Goto Islands, renting a car to explore, maybe a trip to Hisaka. Departure for Nagasaki by ferry on the morning of the 24th.

5- December 24-26 / 2 nights in Nagasaki, visiting the city and memorials, possibly the hot springs in Unzen. Departure on the evening of the 26th by bus or ferry (?) to Kumamoto.

6- December 26-29 / 3 nights in Kumamoto, sightseeing, day trip by car to Mount Aso and surrounding areas. Departure on the 29th in the late afternoon by bus to Kagoshima, overnight in Kagoshima.

7- December 30 to January 2 / Morning departure by ferry to Yakushima for 3 nights, hiking and exploring the island. Departure on January 2 on the only ferry (?) in the early afternoon back to Kagoshima.

8- January 2 to 5 / Uncertain leg... We’d like to spend the night of the 4th to the 5th at a ryokan in Kurokawa Onsen and then head back to Fukuoka and Tokyo by train on the 5th. From the 2nd to the 4th, since we’ll arrive in Kagoshima in the late afternoon, we thought we could head back up to Kumamoto by train or bus—going to Yufuin or Beppu would take much longer and leave us with very little time. But is it worth staying another 2 nights in Kumamoto to explore the area, given we’ll already be there for 3 days from December 26-29? Or should we stay in Kagoshima and head up to Kurokawa Onsen on the afternoon of the 4th for our overnight stay?

9- January 5 to 13, Tokyo and its endless things to do and see, then back to France!

we’re heading to Thailand for 15 days at the end of February/beginning of March.

We haven’t booked our flight tickets yet, but we will soon... we’ve scoured quite a few sites to figure out where to start, but it’s still not clear.

We like to alternate between relaxation on beautiful beaches and sightseeing.

We’re thinking of landing in Bangkok and staying there for 2 or 3 days. Then, we’d spend a day visiting Ayutthaya. I’m skipping Chiang Mai on purpose—it’s too far north. After that, we’d head south (by plane?).

We love snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, or any water sports. We won’t have any means of transportation—no car rental, or at most, a bike! We’ve looked at Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Tao... and I’m already getting lost with all the options...

The kids might enjoy seeing elephants, but only if it’s done in a way that respects animal welfare.

That’s why I was thinking we could fly back from Bangkok instead of another city.

There are a lot of questions, but the biggest one is figuring out the route.

Is it better to return the car in Arita or Nagasaki? En raison du Covid, j'ai dû laisser tomber mes projets voyages en Afrique et je me rabats donc (avec envie tout de même) sur le Pays Basque espagnol pour une petite semaine en novembre. Pour des raisons professionnelles le départ se ferait en voiture de Bordeaux et j'ai imaginé le circuit suivant, si les conditions sanitaires d'ici là le permettent ...

Jour 1 : Départ de Bordeaux pour San Sebastian en voiture, arrivée en début d'après-midi et visite de la ville

Jour 2 : Visite des environs de San Sebastian, avec deux options qui me font hésiter : - visiter l'est entre San Sebastian et la frontière française (Fontarrabie etc.) et revenir dormir sur San Sebastian - visiter l'ouest (Getaria, Zarautz, Orio) et dormir dans ce secteur

Jour 3 : Route vers Bilbao en passant par la côte avec un arrêt vers midi à Gernika et dans l'après midi la visite de San Gaztelugatxe par la route B2235 (a priori non accessible en novembre, y a t'il un intérêt à voir l'endroit ''de loin''?). Nuit à Bilbao avec retour par la route 3101.

Jour 4 : Visite de la biosphère d'Urdaibai dans l'après midi avec une visite de Bilbao dans la matinée.

Jour 5 : Route vers Pampelune en passant plus bas par l'Alava (un autre itinéraire serait-il plus sympa ? Des arrêts à conseiller sur la route ? ). Vaut-il mieux ''tracer'' la veille au soir vers Pampelune pour avoir une journée de plus dans ce secteur ?)

Jour 6 : Visite des Bardenas Reales par l'entrée nord avec un arrêt à Olite. Nuit à Pampelune (ou à Tudela?)

Jour 7 : Ce jour devrait nous permettre de remonter plus au nord, voire en France, pour une dernière halte avant le retour à Bordeaux. Petite hésitation entre passer par une vallée des Pyrénées genre Roncevaux (fin novembre) ou revenir sur la côte et s'arrêter vers Biarritz (peut être répétitif par rapport au reste du voyage ?)

Jour 8 : Route pour Bordeaux où nous devons arriver pour midi !

Voilà en gros ce que mes recherches ont donné avec beaucoup de ''trous''... Je suis ouverte à toutes les suggestions surtout pour les parties un peu floues de mon itinéraire... L'idée n'est pas d'avoir des vacances reposantes. Au niveau voyage, j'aime visiter par la ''route'', les villes sont plutôt pour moi à visiter en soirée autour d'un bon repas sans m'attarder dans les musées etc !

Voici une ébauche de mon itinéraire, j' aimerais avoir vos avis sur celui çi. Arrivée le 25/03 à Fukuoka 3nuits Départ le 28 pour Yanagawa, kurume, yame 3nuits Départ le 31 pour Kumamoto 2nuits Départ le 02 pour Kagoshima 2nuits Retour le 04 à Fukuoka 4nuits (Visite de Beppu, Usiki, Itoshi, Hoshino et Kitakyushu)

Pensez-vous qu'il soit possible de tout visiter? Je ne sais pas trop comment organiser mon itinéraire par rapport aux distances des villes. Mes centres d'intêrets sont la visites de temples, les toris sur la mer, les rizières , les plantations de thé, être proche des habitants, la nature...

Je cherche aussi un ryokan assez sympa mais pas hors de prix mais je ne sais pas dans quel endroit il vaut mieux le prendre.

Vu la situation sanitaire actuelle, je n'avais pas prévu de partir ce été mais finalement, j'en ressens quand même le besoin et prévois donc d'organiser "à la dernière minute" un voyage en Autriche (+ un peu de la Bavière).

Pourquoi l'Autriche ? Car je suis à la recherche de paysages grandioses, sauvages et que c'est un pays qui m'a toujours attiré. La Suisse étant plus chère, l'Autriche m'ira très bien ! 😎

Je compte donc partir 1 semaine-10 jours en Autriche, en axant mon voyage sur les paysages et la nature plutôt que les villes.

J'habite la Belgique et je m'y rendrai avec mon véhicule.

Ne connaissant encore rien à ce pays, je viens vers vous pour des conseils d'itinéraires. J'ai déjà une vague idée après mes quelques recherches mais vos conseils seront les bienvenus.

Grosso modo, je diviserais le voyage en trois parties : 1) Innsbruk et ses alentours, 2) Grossglockner/Route 107 et alentours, 3) Salzbourg et alentours.

Pour rendre le trajet aller moins pénible, j'envisage de m'arrêter à Munich et d'y dormir.

J1 : trajet Belgique-Munich (nuit à Munich) - visite de la ville J2 : de Munich au château de Neuschwanstein - visite du château - nuit dans la région J3 : de Munich à Alpspitze : visite de Alpspitze et Zugspitze - nuit dans la région J4 : de Alpspitze à Innsbruk : passage à Blindsee et autres points d'intérêt, viste d'Innsbruk - nuit à Innsbruk J5 : de Innsbruk à Solden : passage à Piburgersee, visite Solden - nuit à ? J6 : journée supplémentaire dans la région d'Innsbruk et alentours (est-ce nécessaire ?) J7 : de Innsbruk à Zemm am See - nuit à Zemm am See (ou autre) J8 : Grossglockner / Route 107 - nuit à Zemm am See (ou autre) J9 : de Zemm am See à Hallstatt - nuit à Hallstat (ou autre) J10 : de Hallstatt à Salzbourg - nuit à Salzbourg J11 : de Salzbourg à Berchtesgaden - visite du nid d'aigle - nuit à Berchtesgaden J12 : retour en Belgique

Est-ce que cet itinéraire vous paraît cohérent et faisable ? Le but étant encore une fois de profiter un maximum des paysages, de voir pas mal de choses sans pour autant courir non stop. On adore la photo donc on aimerait pouvoir profiter de chaque endroit, dans la mesure du possible.

Je ne connais rien au pays donc n'hésitez pas à me dire si je dois prévoir plus ou moins de temps à tel ou tel endroit.

J'aimerai partir au Japon en décembre pour 17 jours. Pensez-vous que cette itinéraire soit adapté ? Je veux voir pleins de chose mais profiter quand même un minimum des endroits où je vais. Pensez-vous que je dois enlever une ou deux villes de mon voyage ?

Tokyo : 10 jours

Je prendrais le JR pass pour 7 jours pour visiter les différentes villes hors Tokyo :

Mont fuji : 1 jour Nagoya : 1/2 journée Kyoto : 1 jour 1/2 Nara : 1 jour Osaka : 2 jours

Mon voyage prévu au Pérou a été annulé et du coup j'envisage de partir a la Reunion. Je préfère ne pas prendre de risque a partir a l'étranger avec ce covid et ses restrictions. Et franchement la Réunion ça fait longtemps que ça me tante. Je voulais déja savoir si 2 semaines est assez long ou il faut mieux prévoir plus long? Sinon pour ce qui est des logements vous conseillez quoi, plutôt changer de logement presque tous les jours ou prendre juste 3 ou 4 reservations pour la durée du séjour? Si c'est la deuxieme option, vous me conseillez de loger dans quels secteurs?

Option 1: J-1: Tokyo - Nagano : visite du parc aux singes et de la ville le soir. Nuit à Nagano J-2: Visite de Matsumoto et du château. Nuit à Nagano J-3: Direction Kamazawa : Visite de Kanazawa. Nuit sur place J-4: Visite de Shirakawa-go. Finir la soirée à Kanazawa et nuit sur place J-5: Retour à Tokyo

Option 2: J-1: Tokyo - Matsumoto: visite du Château et de la ville. Nuit à Matsumoto J-2: Visite du parc aux singes à Nagano. Flâner dans Nagano. Nuit à Matsumoto J-3: Direction Magome pour faire la promenade jusqu'à Tsumago. Retour à Matsumoto pour la nuit. J-3: Direction Kanazawa. Visite de Kanazawa et nuit sur place. J-4: Visite de Shirakawa-go. Finir la soirée à Kanazawa et nuit sur place J-5: Retour à Tokyo

mes questions sont les suivantes: - je n'ai pas inclus Takayama car j'ai lu plusieurs fois que c'était presque à double avec Kanazawa et Shirakawa-go. Est-ce que Takayama vaut le détour? Si oui le plus simple est d'y aller une journée depuis Kanazawa j'imagine? - Voyez-vous d’autres spots importants à visiter dans les alentours ? Exemple dans la Valée de Kiso? En sachant que nous sommes à pied/train et non en voiture.

Bonjour à tous, je suis un cycliste pour plaisir, je suis italien du Val d'Aoste (Alpes nord ouest) et je voudrais rejoindre Biarritz (je pense rentrer en train ou avion depuis Bordeaux ou Bilbao). Est ce que vous avez des conseils sur l'itinéraire, en considérant que: J'ai à disposition plus ou moins 15-17 jours, j'aime l'arrière pays, les zones rurales, les petits villages et le villes tranquilles, les zones peu habitées quand même mais pas pendant trop de temps le long du voyage, j'aime les rivières pour me baigner, les bois, je n'ai pas peur de la dénivelé, je voudrais éviter les grandes voies avec trop de traffic (mais pour couper un morceau peu intéressant je serais disposé à les parcourir pendant une journée). J'accepte avec gratitude aussi des conseils sur voies vertes, excursions à pieds intéressantes (je suis un petit peu coureur de montagne), fêtes locales e festivals (mon période de voyage sera fin septembre/début octobre). Si vous avez simplement un itinéraire général basé sur le plaisir de pédaler dans certains départements je vous invite à dessiner votre ligne sur cette carte. Je vous remercie, bonne toute ! Leo

Nous partons samedi avec ma petite famille découvrir la corse pendant 15 jours.

Nous sommes avons réserve sur un coup de tête ce qui n'est pas notre habitude et du coup je n'ai rien préparé concernant nos différentes visites.

Nous passerons 1 semaine du coté de l'Ile Rousse et 1 semaine sur Porto Vecchio.

Nous prevoyons, si coco19 nous laisse tranquille, de partir 12 jours en Crete debut octobre, et sommes à la recherche de conseils sur un itineraire. Faire l'ensemble de l'ile sur 12 jours semble compliqué, alors que choisir entre coté ouest et coté est ?

Nous sommes un couple de 55 ans, voyagerons principalement en bus, location d une voiture sur 3 ou 4 jours si necessaire. Nous aimons les vielles pierres, quelques musées, les paysages, les balades, les rencontres, bien manger et finir notre sejour par 2 jours de plages.

Je cherche donc un itinéraire sur voie verte uniquement, avec peu de dénivelé, et d'environ 200km... et avec des campings tout du long... Nous avions programmé de passer 1 mois au Nicaragua en aout ..voyage annulé ( plutôt reporté). Du coup, je viens de prendre un vol pour Thessalonique afin de faire un périple de 3 semaines en Grèce avec nos 3 enfants de 7, 9 et 13 ans, entre mer et montagne. Voiture de location pour les 3 semaines.

J'aimerais avoir votre avis sur les 2 itinéraires suivants:

itinéraire 1: j1 a 4 : Sithonia ( au sud de la presqu'ile) J 4 a 9 : Thassos J 9 à 11 : lac Kerkini J 11 à 15 : Zagorias J 15 à 16 : meteores J 16 à 21 : Pelion

comme tous le monde, nous voulons éviter les endroits trop bondés, même si en Aout, j' en suis bien conscient, cela ne sera pas facile ( mais, grâce au forum, nous avions passé 3 super semaines en crête il y a quelques année en plein été, et avions eu trés peu de monde avec un peu d'organisation et en évitant la cote nord, matala etc.. https://voyageforum.com/v.f?post=8776585;#8776585 )
