Trains and stations
Napoli Centrale railway station, situated in Piazza Garibaldi, is the station where most long distance trains arrive and an obligatory stop for nearly all trains heading up or down the Italian peninsula. The station is served by
public transport which connects it with the ports and the rest of the city.
Napoli Piazza Garibaldi railway station is an underground station, located directly beneath
Napoli Centrale.
The city’s other railway stations are
Napoli Campi Flegrei, in the Fuorigrotta district, and
Napoli Mergellina, the latter is just meters away from the port with which it shares its name and from where, in high season,
hydrofoils heading to Capri depart.
Taxi stands are located directly outside the stations and customers can ask that the
fixed rate be applied (always check that the taxi license is displayed). Those wishing to use
public transport from the Stazione Centrale to the ports of Calata di Massa or Molo Beverello can take the
R2 bus (Piazza Garibaldi - Piazza
Trieste e
Trento) or
No. 1 tram (Poggioreale - Piazza Vittoria). Bus and tram
tickets cost 1.10 euro and can be purchased at the newspaper stands inside the station.
