My name is Giorgio.I speak french but I feel more confortable with english when writing

Despite of what the other before me were saying Genes (or
Genoa or
Genova in Italian) is a
nice town, streched between mountain and see.
I like this town mostly because is like no other one (and I've travelled a lot!!).I can speak for hours about it but I have to be quick.
So I point out what I like more and less.
More:
The surrounding in the east coast:
Portofino (top), Santa Margherita, Camogli (lovely) and if you want to go more east "
Cinque Terre".
Nervi a very
nice banlieu, a small village with a 2 km walking path on the sea and wonderful parks.Check it, I have a web site too:
www.nervi.ge.it
All the eastern side of
Genoa (from the center in the direction opposite of going to
France) near the sea
The old harbour completely remake+it's acquarium (Europe biggest)
The old town, full of incredibly little path/road and shops (caruggi) and the modern part with big building and big "piazze"
The mountain just around, no house, superb view and a line of old defense castles (at least 5 or 6).
Moreover
The food, amazing,...try "pesto", "focaccia" and "focaccia al formaggio" in Camogli...
The weather quite warm and pleasant especially winter time.
Suggestion
Go until
Portofino (very smart) and then move back following the coast line to the center of
Genoa. It worth.
Less
The west side, the first you'll see coming from
Marseille. Is the worst banlieu, with a highway just in the middle.
Hope you'll enjoy the trip.
Bytheway...I'm going too in
Genoa for Touissant!!
