His Majesty suffers little illnesses His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej was today unable to deliver his traditional speech to the Thai people on the eve of his 81st birthday due to bronchitis and an inflammation of alimentary canal.
His Majesty the King assigned His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn to carry words of thanks to well-wishers as well as to convey royal wishes for happiness, prosperity and success to the Thai people.
In the royal speech, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince said His Majesty the King was suffering little illnesses, and that Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was given the royal permission to explain His Majesty’s conditions to the audience.
Her Royal Highness the Princess Maha Chakri then told the 22, 000-strong crowd gathering at Chitralada Villa that His Majesty the King’s condition was still normal yesterday when Her Royal Highness met him during a royal meal. His Majesty had good appetite. But today His Majesty had an inflammation of his windpipe and alimentary canal, causing him to have less appetite. His Majesty was given saline solution and medicine. As a result, His Majesty did not feel fine and became fatigue, with a lot of phlegm in the throat.
However, Her Royal Highness said HM the King had no fever and should gain strength after some rest. Her Royal Highness reiterated that His Majesty’s condition was not serious. Only the royal condition did not improve in time to meet the well wishers, Her Royal Highness added.
