An anti-government "Red Shirt" protester was killed in Saturday clashes with Thai security forces in the capital, the director of
Bangkok General Hospital told AFP.
"Sawat Wa-ngam, a 43-year-old Red Shirt protester died. I suspect he was hit by a hard object, " said Pijaya Nagavajara, director of the hospital near the clash site.
One of the Red Shirt leaders, Nattawut Saikur, told AFP that two protesters were killed in the confrontation, which injured at least 240 people.

The dead victims include four civilians and four soldiers,
Bangkok
's deputy governor Malinee Sukavrejworakit said.
One of the victims is a Japanese cameraman, according to hospital officials.
Hiro Muramoto, a 43-year-old Japanese national who had worked for Thomson Reuters in
Tokyo for more than 15 years and had arrived in
Bangkok on Thursday to cover the protests.
