et histoire de positiver... on aimerait rajouter une semaine à notre voyage prévu :

Nous devions partir 3 semaines et demi. nos dernières nuitées sont à onguma tree top soit partie Est d'etosha.

en rajoutant une semaine, nous aimerions rallier les chutes victoria, que pensez vous de cet itinéraire :

en terme de budget, pensez vous cela cohérent :

environ 1500 euros concernant les lodges ( et parfois les diners sont inclus )

la location du 4*4 ( à vérifier...) 150 euros pour 8 jours supplémentaires : 1200 euros

j'imagine qu'on aura les billets d'avion un peu plus cher aussi avec un vol multi destination

activités : à la louche : 800 euros ( pas encore regardé ça )

et nourriture, sachant que dans certains lodges certains repas du soir sont compris : 300 euros

soit environ 3800 euros en plus

il faut que je regarde ce qu'il en est pour le passage des différentes frontières ....

l'idée, c'est déjà de savoir si pour vous, c'est réalisable ?

Je prévois de partir avec ma femme en Namibie pendant 2 semaines et demi sur le mois de mai et juin 2020. Nous voudrions faire un road trip en 4x4 avec tente sur le toît. Nous voudrions faire la plupart des nuits en camping mais également certaines nuits en logement.

Safari l'après-midi et nuit à Mariental. J3 : Route jusque Sesriem (+/- 4h). Sesriem canyon et Elim dunes. Nuit à Sesriem. J4 : Visite de Sossusvlei et Deadvlei. Nuit à Sesriem. J5 : Route jusque Swakopmund avec quelques arrêts : Solitaire, Tropic of Capricorn, Kuiseb Canyon, Moon Landscape. Nuit à Swakopmund. J6 : Balade en mer + 4x4 à Sandwich Harbor. Nuit à Swakopmund. J7 : Route jusque Cape Cross (+/- 1h30). Ensuite, route jusque Spitzkoppe (+/- 3h). Visite de Spitzkoppe et nuit à Spitzkoppe. J8 : Route jusque Brandberg (+/- 2h30). White lady trail. Ensuite l'après-midi faire le Drive pour voir les éléphants. Nuit à Brandberg. J9 : Route jusque Twyfelfontein (+/- 2h30). Visite de Twyfelfontein. Ensuite, route jusque Palmwag (+/- 2h). Trouvez-vous que cet itinéraire tient la route ? Est-ce que j'ai oublié des choses importantes ? Y a-t-il des visites qui ne sont pas nécessaires ?

J'ai aussi quelques autres questions :

J'ai lu à plusieurs endroits que les voitures étaient fouillées pour la nouriture à l'entrée de certains parcs. A quels endroits c'est le cas et qu'est ce qui est interdit ? Otjitotongwe Cheetah Guestfarm et Cheetah Conservation Fund. Lequel est le plus intéressant ? Y a t-il un heure idéalle pour y être ? Quel site conseillez-vous pour réserver les activités de la journée à Swakopmund ? Etosha : est-ce qu'il est plus intéressant de faire 2 nuits à Okaukuejo et 1 nuit à Namutoni ou bien 1 nuit à Okaukuejo, 1 nuit à Halali et 1 nuit à Namutoni ? Waterberg : est-ce que ça vaut la peine ? Si oui, combien de temps est nécessaire ? Pour la réservation des campings et des logements, est-il préférable de passer par un tour operator (si oui, lequel ?) ou peut-on le faire par nous-même ? Pour la réservation du 4x4, y a-t-il certaines choses auxquelles il faut faire attention ? Quel loueur conseillez-vous ?

I’m planning a potential trip to Namibia for a classic circuit in April 2027.

I’m surprised by how expensive the accommodations inside the parks are—really steep! Is it possible to stay outside the parks but still close enough to enjoy the game drives?

Do you have any recommendations for more reasonably priced lodging? I’m okay with spending 200 to 250 € per night.

No camping—the friend I’m traveling with absolutely refuses 😉, but maybe upgraded tents would work.

After reading a lot of posts on the topic, I’m still not sure which rental companies are truly reliable these days... Hi there, I’m looking for a driver who can take my 77-year-old parents on a classic 15-day road trip. Windhoek - Okonjima - Etosha - Khorixas - Swakopmund - Sesriem - Mariental Having done this route myself last year, I didn’t see the point of joining an organized tour, and my parents are seasoned travelers but no longer feel 100% comfortable driving on rough roads with the risk of a flat tire or sandstorm (we didn’t encounter either, but it’s a 50/50 chance). In Asia, this kind of arrangement is super easy to organize, but I get the feeling it’s less straightforward to find this type of service in Namibia. The 4x4 rental would be handled through an agency in Windhoek (Safari Car Rental—great experience). We’d book nights in lodges or hotels directly (no camping). Thanks in advance for any tips or recommendations!

Good evening, I’m drawn to the siren call of Voy.. priv... offering a lovely Namibia itinerary, but I won’t hide that our last trip with this same "organization" left a bitter taste... though to be fair, the destination had lost all its charm—or maybe it was just too much so: Bali! I loved it in 2001, but when I went back in 2023, I hated it. Still, we let ourselves be convinced by an enticing price...

But that’s not the point. Now, we want to take this dream trip to Namibia. There are so many options, from the simplest to the most sophisticated: tourist buses, self-drive 4x4s, or private guides. Each has its pros and cons.

The bus: I hated Bali *because* of this—too many people, too touristy... On the other hand, you just let yourself be guided. No stress about driving.

4x4: Waking up in the middle of nature must be incredible—being self-sufficient with a travel journal, knowing every day is full of surprises. The downside? Only my partner drives. A former sales rep, he’s logged so many kilometers it’s wrecked his back...

With a guide: That’d be the dream... but we don’t have the budget.

So, I’m looking for a solution—contacts, advice—to make this trip match our tastes *and* our budget. For early April, of course!

Plusieurs questions restent en suspend : - Si nous prévoyons de nous enfoncer dans le Kaokoveld (jusqu'à Marienfluss valley, puis Purros) , Epupa falls est-il une étape incontournable ? - Nous souhaitons rencontrer les Himbas hors sentiers battus. Est-il indispensable de faire un stop au camp Aussicht ? Ou est-il possible de trouver un guide dans le Kaokoveld lors de nos différents stops ? (Onjuva, Orupembe ...) - Quelqu'un peut-il nous donner des informations concernant la concession de Palmwag que nous souhaitons prendre depuis Purros ? (Fonctionnement, prix ...)

Hi everyone, We’re seriously considering a two-week trip in August 2026 with our kids, who’ll be 11 and 10 years old. That’s where we’re torn on the destination. For those who’ve been to both, could you share the main differences? I get the impression that in Botswana, the landscapes are a bit samey everywhere, while Namibia offers more diversity? Je me pose des questions sur la nécessité de réserver les campings a l'avance, ce qui "bloque" un peu l'itinéraire. J'ai réservé sur sesriem et etosha, mais ailleurs est ce indispensable ? C'est écrit partout que oui pour juillet août, mais est ce le cas aussi en mai ? Je pense en particulier au parc du Chobe et a l'okavongo au bostwana (Chobe font river, savuti, kwhai, moremi). Alors au final avec mon amie nous avons choisis un voyage organise pour la Namibie en juin et j aurais quelques questions.

Deja que pensez vous de air ethiopian ? Sont ils souvent en retard ?

Ensuite je vais vous mettre mon itineraire dites moi si il faut faire le vaccin contre typhoide et quelque chose pour le palu. J ai ete voir mon medecin hier et pour le palu il m a prescrit de la melarone à prendre en cas de fievre. Bien sur on aura vetements claires et bombonnes moustiques FFF pour nous et vetements.

Ensuite y en a t il qui ont eu une insolation la bas ?

Je ferais 4 nuits sous tente le reste en hotel et lodge. Pour le froid j ai deja dormis 15 jours dans les rocheuses a 0c sous tente donc est ce comparable ?

Des habits ou objets a prendre en particulier ?

Et pour 2 semaines un budget comme argent de poche ?

On pensait si possible voir les phoques, pensez vous que c est sur notre itineraire ?

Derniere question pour les photographes : quel genre de trepier prendre ? Ca m embete de prendre un grand trepier avec moi.

De retour sur VF, j'entame donc la préparation de notre retour en Namibie prévu pour l'année prochaine, à priori en Avril 2021.

Après 2 voyages namibiens au mois d'Aout, nous avons maintenant hâte de découvrir la Namibie pendant la saison chaude et humide (enfin pas trop quand même hein ?!), c'est pourquoi nous voudrions partir au mois d'Avril, à la fin de la saison des pluies, pour pouvoir profiter des paysages verdoyants, des piscines des lodges et des soirées tempérées sous le ciel étoilé.

Nous serons entre 2 et 6 (Dépend de la fiabilité des amis 😇) et l'idée serait de louer un (ou plusieurs) 4x4 équipé et d'alterner nuit en camping et nuit en lodge.

Ayant déjà fait 2 séjours de 15 jours en Namibie nous voulons cette fois ci découvrir de nouvelles région (Kunene et Caprivi) et prendre un petit peu plus notre temps (mais ça on se le dit à chaque fois et au final on ne s'y tient jamais 😄)

Nous espérons disposer de 23 jours sur place. Et voici l'ébauche de notre programme :

Alors, j'ai vu que beaucoup d'entre vous étiez allé, ou retourné, en Namibie ces dernières années. 🙂 J'ai lu la plupart des carnets récents concernant cet itinéraire (nombreux) et cette période de l'année (beaucoup moins nombreux 😇) et j'ouvre donc ce sujet pour regrouper un peu les informations et les conseils.

J'ai déjà beaucoup de questions 😊 Dans l'ordre,

Quelle compagnie relie l’Europe (Paris ou Francfort) et Windhoek à cette période avec arrivée tôt le matin ? Sans escale si possible.

Je voulais retourner à Bagatelle où nous avions dormi lors de notre premier voyage il y a 5 ans mais j'ai lu aussi beaucoup de retours positifs sur le Kalahari Anib Lodge, quelqu'un a t'il déjà comparé les deux ?

Plutot Ameib Ranch ou Bagatelle White Lady ? 😉 Vous savez si il y a des éléphants du coté du Brandberg à cette période ?

Pour la bande de Caprivi j'ai bien entendu noté la Mahango GR, et il nous resterait 2 jours. Y a t'il d'autre réserve sympa à visiter avec beaucoup de faune au bord du fleuve +/- balade en bateau ? Si vous avez des conseils coté botswanais je suis preneur aussi. 🙂

Dans l'état actuel du programme j'envisage fortement un drop off à Kasane avec pourquoi pas une journée aux chutes Victoria mais ce n'est pas obligatoire.

Hey everyone! Heading to Namibia in a few days and I just read that the entry fees for all parks in Namibia have skyrocketed. Increases between 86 and 100%, and this has been in effect since April 1st (no joke). Have any of you heard about this, and if so, do you know if it’s actually being enforced? For example, the fee for Etosha has gone from 150 NAD to 280 NAD per day per person. Thanks in advance!

We’re heading to Namibia for the first time at the end of January 2026 for 12 nights as a couple, with a 4x4 rental (no tent). We’re planning to stay in lodges, hotels, or similar. Our goal is to explore Namibia and see as many animals as possible.

We were thinking of following this route:

Windhoek to Sesriem – 2 nights

Sesriem to Omaruru – 2 nights

Omaruru to Ongava (ETOSHA) – 2 nights

Ongava to Onguma (ETOSHA) – 2 nights

Onguma to Okonjima – 2 nights

Okonjima to Windhoek – 2 nights (these last two nights near Windhoek at a lodge like Our Habitas)

What do you think of this plan?

I know we’ll miss a lot of must-see spots, but we only have 12 nights, and the distances between the points of interest we’ve chosen are pretty long.

Also, since January/February is the "rainy season," do you think this itinerary is suitable?

Don’t hesitate to tell me if we’re completely off track or if you’d recommend something totally different—we’re open to any suggestions.

Hello everyone, We came back enchanted from our first trip to Namibia and we're already thinking of going back. We did the classics: Etosha, Twyfelfontein, Sossusvlei, Deadvlei... Our guide suggests doing the Caprivi Strip over 10 days, alternating 2 nights in a lodge and 2 nights in a tent. Given that we love landscapes but especially wildlife observation, I wonder if after spending 4 nights in Etosha and having visited Botswana twice, Caprivi offers different animals to see and if the wildlife is generally abundant. The videos I've seen online don't really captivate me. It seems quite similar to the Okavango Delta. What do you think? Are there other circuits we should prioritize? Both in our seventies, we prefer staying mainly in lodges. Thanks in advance to those who can give us advice

hi everyone, we’re itching to see the Namib Desert again, and looking at the Tracks4Africa map I notice there’s a track that reaches Saddle Hill Ghost Town and seems to be allowed. Has anyone done it? We’re used to dunes—on our first visit we went from Walvis Bay to Sandwich Harbour with our rental 4x4 but followed a licensed guide. Thanks for your replies! Brigitte

Just sharing our experience from our wonderful trip for two, which we’ve just returned from. We decided to get help with the bookings from the agency Tourmaline Safaris, and everything was perfectly organized without any extra costs for the reservations. We chose to alternate nights in rooftop tents, Camping2Go (fitted tents), and guesthouses.

Flight from Paris to Windhoek with a layover in Johannesburg. 4x4 rented from Safari Car Rental—flawless. We had an official translation of our driver’s licenses, but no one asked for them during the trip. Mariental: 1 night in Camping2Go (Anib Lodge) Sersiem: 1 night in a rooftop tent (Oshana Campsite) Solitaire: 1 night in Camping2Go (Nabis Desert Lodge) Swakopmund: 2 nights in a guesthouse (The Stiltz) Spitzkoppe: 1 night in Camping2Go Omaruru: 2 nights in a rooftop tent (Omandumba Cave Camp) Etosha East: 1 night in a rooftop tent (Etosha Safari Village) Etosha West: 2 nights in a rooftop tent (Onguma Tamboti)—game drive and morning walk with them Okahandja: 1 night in Camping2Go Windhoek: 1 night at Londiningi Guesthouse Then... flight to Victoria Falls and transfer by car to Kasane for 2 nights (Water Lily Lodge), followed by a transfer to Victoria Falls for 2 nights at Phe Zulu. All transfers were arranged by Tourmaline, and they were all perfectly on time.

No logistical issues with Tourmaline Safaris, and given that our initial flight was delayed by a day, my checked luggage arrived a week late (Tourmaline arranged for the luggage to be transferred by taxi to Omaruru), and our initial Windhoek-Kasane flight was canceled by Air Botswana without explanation, we were really relieved to have the agency’s local contact to handle these unexpected issues! Delayed luggage seems to be common, but the agency had warned us, so we packed our carry-ons accordingly.

It was very cold at night (June), especially in Omaruru, but luckily we were prepared. Since it had rained a lot this season, Victoria Falls was flowing heavily! So much so that the water mist prevented us from seeing the eastern part of the falls. But a short helicopter tour gave us a better view. Be aware that the entrance fees for the falls are high (50 dollars per person) and only grant one entry—you can’t come in the morning and return in the late afternoon. We stayed from 6 AM to 3 PM in the park, taking breaks at the cafeteria, to see the falls at sunrise, at 11 AM (when the mist partially lifts), and at 3 PM (not much difference from the 11 AM view).

That’s it! A magnificent trip that left us with wonderful memories. Nothing disappointed us.

Hello, Namibia in April for 11 days from the 10th to the 21st with 2 adults and 3 (our son from the 16th to the 21st). We’re looking to combine 2 short circuits for this brief stay. Should we book a vehicle and accommodation through an agency?

We’re used to traveling independently, but we’re hesitant about Namibia! Any recommendations for vehicle rental sites? And agencies?
