Hi there! We're heading to Athens in April 2026 with our three kids (ages 7 to 14). We won’t be renting a car and plan to stay in Athens the whole time. What do you think of this itinerary? - Day 1: Arrival and first stroll around Athens (Anafiotika, Monastiraki, Psiri, Areopagus Hill) - Day 2: Acropolis (+ museum?), Plaka, Koukaki or Filopappou depending on how we feel - Day 3: Day trip to Hydra, overnight in Aegina - Day 4: Aegina - Day 5: Changing of the Guard, National Garden, Lycabettus Hill, Panathenaic Stadium, Plaka - Day 6: Organized Peloponnese excursion - Day 7: Athens Riviera, relaxed pace - Day 8: Organized Delphi excursion - Day 9: Departure Thanks in advance! ☀️☀️☀️

Hi there, First, be mindful of your travel dates—Páscha (Easter) falls on April 12th in Greece this year, and site hours change. They’ll be closed on Easter Day and have reduced hours in the days leading up to it. There’s no Hydra-Aegina ferry in April; it only runs during high season, and even then, just twice a week, so you’d have to go back through Piraeus. It’s really not convenient.

What day trip are you planning in the Peloponnese? It’s like saying you’re going to Brittany for a day from Paris.

The Delphi excursion is *very* packed. From Athens, it’s a 2.5–3-hour drive each way, so a day trip is exhausting, especially with kids.

Why don’t you want to rent a car? I think the cost of excursions for five people will easily exceed renting one, and you’d have way more freedom. For example, you could spend more time in the Peloponnese.

Basically, your itinerary is unbalanced. Either focus on the Peloponnese *or* Delphi and the surrounding area—but not both, especially in such a short time. You won’t see much in the end.
