Traveling solo in Zhangjiajie Park, China

Hello, We’re finalizing the plans for our upcoming trip to China in May 2025. The second-to-last stop will be in Zhangjiajie, where we’ve planned to stay for 2 full days before heading to Shanghai. We’re traveling solo using local transport and have arranged to stay in the city of Zhangjiajie.

We’ve seen that there’s a lot to see: Tianmen Mountain, the Grand Canyon and the glass bridge, Zhangjiajie National Park, and that the sites are quite far apart with fairly expensive entry fees. We’re thinking of dedicating one day to the national park and the Grand Canyon (glass bridge) and one day to Tianmen Mountain. But we’re not sure if this plan is realistic—any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Do you know if it’s possible to get around on our own, or is it better to go through a local agency or book a package like the one sold by TravelChinaGuide? https://www.travelchinaguide.com/package/zhangjiajie/2days-tour.htm

Thanks in advance for your advice! Alod

Hi,

Do you know if it's possible to get by on your own, or if it's better to go through a local agency or take a package like the one sold by travelchinaguide? www.travelchinaguide.com/...iajie/2days-tour.htm

If you only have 2 days there, I think it's better to take a package to save time. I’m asking myself the same question...😇 But we’ll be staying a bit longer. My daughter managed on her own when she was there, but there were fewer tourists back then, and she didn’t go to the canyon area.

Hello, Thank you for your reply. We’ll most likely try without a pre-purchased package from France. I think we’ll check out the different options once we’re there, limiting our visits based on how long we’re staying or by using a local "agency." Have a great day! Alod

Hi there,

I’m planning a trip to China—any local agencies you’d recommend?

Hope your trip went well! :)

Good evening, Our trip went really well, but in the end we didn’t go to Zhangjiajie and we didn’t use a local agency. Have a good evening, Alod
