Hey, we almost could’ve crossed paths—we popped over there in July!

So, Caroline, not disappointed by my tips? Any little ideas or comments for the readers?

Hi Joel,

Back on VF, reactivated... thanks to my friend Caussat!

- Still passionate about the USA, but also (with age...) refocused on France.

Alsace drew us in September 2023, just before the grape harvest, for a week from the historic center of Colmar, the very beautiful, and under the sun.

Sorry, I don’t do trip reports but blogs (with my son) aimed at family, friends, and anyone interested who asks for help...

THANKS for your trip report, which I just devoured in one go—it’s super detailed! But I’m thinking we just "skimmed" the surface... though we greatly enjoyed it.

3 additions to your trip report: - All the way north, the Lalique Museum, amazing and lost deep in the woods (see J01, Saturday 09/02). - All the way south, the National Automobile Museum in Mulhouse, huge and a must-see for car lovers in an exceptional setting. - Still in the south, the Alsace Ecomuseum, a charming highlight. (See J04, Tuesday 09/05 for those two).

In the end, a wonderful but too-short getaway. Happy reading! Jean.

Hi Jean, I’m jumping in on your reply just because you mentioned places that are close to my heart 😉 I grew up in a village right next to the EcoMuseum, so I know it well. It really is super nice, and you feel like you’re in a real village from the past. And now I live in northern Alsace—after 15 years living in another region, we finally moved back to our beloved Alsace since my husband works at Lalique. And it’s true, our forests are gorgeous! The autumn colors were stunning, especially on sunny days!

Anyway! So glad you enjoyed our beautiful region!

Hi Peggy,

Thanks for your little note... and YES, I can confirm we really enjoyed this little part of your region, which we didn’t know at all!

I meticulously planned the visits with guides/maps and the internet, and found a TOP place to stay right by Colmar’s historic center.

I invite you to check out my blog (link in my signature) where you’ll find lots of photos... and memories.

See you soon, Jean.

I must be a bit slow... but I don’t see the link to your blog. I saw the blogs for Italy and Andalusia, but I don’t know how to get to your "general" blog where I could find your Alsace trip

Hi, try searching "blogs.crespel.me" on Google—you’ll find the main blog with all our trips, and Alsace is at the very bottom!

If you run into any issues, I’m around.

Great blog, with beautiful photos.

Just need to go back and explore the northern part of the region—there are some amazing discoveries to be made too!

Thanks for your interest!

We’ve been back twice since then, and I’ve got more material to add to this travel journal. Once I sort through everything and do it properly, well, you’ll need to be patient—it’ll take months.

Hi Jean,

I finally took the time to go through your blog for the Alsace section. What a beautiful trip you had! I discovered some places I’d only heard of but never actually visited 😉

I’m happily diving back into this travel journal with a focus on northern Alsace, where we’ll be heading in two weeks.

Hi Cricri!

I'm from Hawenaa, as we say back home. That's 67500... We've settled in the south of France now. One day, I showed my wife around Alsace, and the least we can say is that she loved it.

Hawenaa! No, I won’t say where it is—too bad for the "Walschi"!

Greetings to you, fellow Alsatian! Salü! Wie geht’s d’r?

What a surprise! Okay, clearly, you’ll have to tell me a bit more about this...
