Thanks for this travel journal—it’s really great and gives a really good idea of what to expect... Plus, as a bonus, there’s a ton of interesting details! ( And Cambodia? )

Ah, thanks, that one’s nice too! I’d already read your travel journal on SULAWESI, but I didn’t make the connection... It’s funny, actually, because the downsides you list about that island (noise, pollution, *very* curious locals) are exactly what’s making me wonder about a potential trip to... India, whereas Indonesia... Well... I’ve spent quite some time there, and even if all that stuff bothers me, it doesn’t really scare me anymore... (And that’s also why Cambodia would mostly be to see friends there—I’m afraid I wouldn’t feel very out of my comfort zone compared to rural Indonesia...) Keep up the good work!

Well, welcome aboard to all of you—it’s so nice to have you keeping me company 😉.

And Marien, you’re already making my mouth water. The day you tell us about Varanasi, I’ll drop everything and stay glued to my computer .

See you soon for the rest!

I stumbled upon this discussion by chance, years later, and I’m smiling... Because the memory I have of Varanasi isn’t at all one of a crazy city. I’ll have to reread my notes and maybe share how I experienced Varanasi...

Hello Christelle, and thank you for this travel journal that I devoured from cover to cover.... I only spent 6 days in this country, and the 3 weeks I’m planning to go back for at the end of the year seem way too short... Anyway, I have one goal: I want the same photo as yours (with my back, of course...)!!! Hoping the scaffolding will be gone by then.... See you soon! Bruno

Hello everyone (and big kisses to my avatar clone!) It was through this message (and Christelle’s ) that I found out the forum was back! Anyway, the goal from back then has been achieved, and the scaffolding is gone!

Varanasi, which I had the chance to discover on this occasion, is indeed not a city of madmen, but you have to leave your European brain at the door before entering!! It’s impossible to understand with our usual codes!
