Bonsoir,

To purchase a jeep ticket from
Kathmandu
to Solu Salleri:
Go to
Chabahil
on Ring Road the day before departure and find the small outside booth. Price is 2000 NPR per seat.
Location:

27°43'04.0"N 85°20'49.6"E
Show up the next morning at assigned time. The locals show up early and argue hard for their chosen seats, so be firm and decisive while
nice.
Departure usually around 05:00-ish.
All the jeeps are Tata Sumo Gold or Mahindra Bolero that
normally take 10 passengers plus driver and kids. (4-4-2 config.)
You can buy more than one seat if you like. When traveling by yourself booking the front seat alone can be a good deal (4000 NPR), because (if the stars align) it might have a working seat belt.
Your pack is placed on the roof tightly under a tarp, and you will probably not have access to it during the journey.
So take a small daypack with everything you need. Consider cold morning/evening, a good headset/ earplugs (recommended), snacks/food, toilet paper and lots of patience.
The road can be very dusty so it's
nice to have a closed backpack cover.
(If you arrive in Phaplu on your way out and don't have one, a rice bag and some string from the local store will do the trick.)
If everything runs smoothly you should, insha'Allah, be in Salleri sometime in the evening.
But this is
Nepal
so the occasional landslide, vehicle breakdown, road construction etc. might make it an overnight trip - thus think through your daypack.
After leaving
Kathmandu
Valley the jeep will stop for breakfast and later for lunch.
The road has the last year been greatly improved, with sections getting hard-surface, shortcuts and new bridges.
Half way you'll reach the Sun Koshi river crossing, the lowest elevation en route, only 360 meters above sea level.
Here there might be a temporary bridge in dry season, or the new big vehicle bridge will be finished and you'll just cruise over.
If not, get your stuff and walk over the suspension bridge and find your new jeep and driver on the other side. Just follow the locals from your ride.
The trip now continues up endless ridgelines and pauses in an uncharming village for dinner. If it's getting late you'll probably sleep here and continue early next morning.
There will be some
nice views along the way as you pass the highest point 3000m, so sitting by a window/door is advisable. Then you can also regulate the airflow and use opportunities to jump out and stretch your legs.
From Salleri it's a short 20 minute walk to next-door Phaplu. From Phaplu a
nice wide forest road takes you to Ringmo in about 3 hours.
Same drill for the return. Buy jeep tickets the day/evening before in center of Phaplu."
