Transit visa for a layover in Kuwait?

Hi there,

I booked a flight from Paris to Bangkok, with a 1h35 layover in Kuwait. On the site where I reserved my flight (trip.com), it says:

"A visa on arrival is required for transit in Kuwait" ...

That already seems surprising to me, but when I checked the site https://kuwait-evisa.org/kuwait-transit-visa/, I read:

If you are remaining within the international transit zone of the airport and your layover is short, you may not need a visa. Confirm this with your airline or Kuwaiti embassy.

So I contacted trip.com for confirmation, and they redirected me to the Kuwaiti embassy, which hasn’t responded yet.

Has anyone taken this flight before and can confirm that no transit visa is needed?

Thanks.

Good evening,

Can you share details about your ticket? Is it a single end-to-end ticket? Which flights, which airline? Multiple flights? What does Sherpa say? Sherpa

Good evening and thanks for the Sherpa link!

Sherpa says:

International travelers don’t need a visa to transit through Kuwait if they stay inside the airport. International travelers who leave the airport must obtain a visa to enter Kuwait. Visit the government website to check the allowed length of stay and other entry conditions.

That confirms what I thought...

For my ticket, it’s all with Kuwait Airways, and here’s how the transit visa requirement is shown:

Okay, I finally contacted the airline (Kuwait Airlines) directly via WhatsApp.

Here’s their response:

Hello! dear passenger, Please be advised that to avoid the requirement for a transit visa, your layover at Kuwait International Airport should not exceed 24 hours. Additionally, ensure that all connecting flights are booked under a single itinerary

That’s the case for me—I tick both boxes.

Phew, that’s one less thing to worry about. It’s always stressful to be left hanging with stuff like this.
