Private room in Beijing Airport transit zone, Terminal 3

I’ll have a long layover at Beijing Airport (PEK) on December 6, 2026. I arrive at Terminal 3 around 5:30 AM on Air China and depart at 6:15 PM, also with Air China, for an international flight. I’d like to stay in the transit zone, without leaving the airport or going through Chinese immigration, if possible. I’m just looking for a private room for a few hours, ideally 7-8 hours, so I can get some sleep and take a shower. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance for your tips! Jean-Philippe

Hi there,

Check if Air China offers a day-use room or lounge access for long layovers.

Just a heads-up—I transited quickly there in the middle of winter, and the airport wasn’t heated. In December, Beijing gets *cold* 🥶. Some passengers coming from Thailand were in shorts and T-shirts and *really* regretted it fast 🥶.

Oh right, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the info.

Hi there, Air China offers free hotel rooms for flights arriving before 8 AM in Beijing. The transit must last at least 6 hours and up to 24 hours. However, it's highly recommended to book 24 hours before departure directly on their website or app using your ticket number to ensure you get a room. If that's not possible, you can do it upon arrival, but there's no guarantee you'll get a room depending on availability.

In any case, you'll need to go through immigration and either collect your luggage or not (you'll decide at departure from CDG whether you want to pick it up to take to the hotel or not—I suggest packing a small bag with a change of clothes and checking your luggage through to your final destination).

After baggage claim, head to the "transit service" counter. They'll assign you a room and arrange transportation to the hotel. If you arrive early, you can have lunch at the hotel. For the return trip to the airport, check with the hotel about departure—sometimes the airline covers it, sometimes not. I've had the return transport included before, but not always, so ask at the counter before heading to the hotel. I'm doing this at the end of the month with Xiamen, and it works smoothly.

Thanks for the info. Great tip, I’ll look into it even though I’d have preferred to stay in the transit zone without having to go through immigration. Best regards.

Hello, I confirm that staying in this airport isn’t comfortable or welcoming… and it’s poorly heated, indeed…

You can very easily take a trip into the city using the metro—it’s neither complicated nor expensive…
