Voyager, c'est ma devise...
J'imagine que ça dépend de vos intérêts, nous partons dans un mois, et nous avons fait le choix d'un changement rapide au Qatar (on part sur Qatar Airways) et nous restons 2 nuits à Melbourne. L'idée c'est de s'arrêter voir des amis mais c'est chouette aussi e profiter des escales pour voir un peu de pays en plus. Il y a beaucoup de liaisons entre la NZ et l'Australie, donc pas mal de grandes villes Australiennes sont envisageables sur ce genre de trajet.

Pourquoi ne pas passer un peu de temps là (et gagner deux heures de décalage) puis repartir par le même vol au terme de votre halte ?

Vous avez raison j'aurais du préciser. Alors je vous avoue qu'en matière de trajet aérien mes centres d'intérêt sont voisins de zéro, et mes priorités sont très simples, l'avion étant pour moi un moyen de transport d'un point A à un point B et rien d'autre. Le fait de savoir que je serai dans un A380 ne me fait aucun effet sauf si l'on me démontre qu'il est bien plus confortable qu' un autre avion. Donc : le plus court possible en durée, un nombre d'escales le moins élevé possible (pour limiter les risques de bagages égarés en route), le moins cher possible en coût bien entendu, tout en respectant quand même un minimum possible de confort (si on peut parler ainsi en classe éco) et de qualité de service à bord. Mon expérience très limitée me fait préférer AF aux compagnies américaines, et les deux japonaises JAL et ANA à AF, British Airways ou Korean... Par conséquent, merci pour les suggestions d'escales prolongées en Australie ou ailleurs, mais non, pas intéressé. PS : notre destination finale sera en fait Christchurch. Et j'ai vu sur l'article en question qu'Emirates opère aussi un vol vers Christchurch mais via Bangkok puis Sydney. Quel est l'intérêt alors qu'il y'a pléthore de vols intérieurs Auckland Christchurch à pas bien cher par Air New Zealand ?

Mais ce n'est pas "moins de 15h", c'est 15h55 à l'aller et 17h15 au retour.
Et je demandais notamment si quelqu'un ici avait l'expérience d'un vol d'une telle durée en classe éco...
PS : sur le site d'Emirates, selon les horaires affichés ce vol durerait en réalité plus de 18h....

Nous l'avions fait avec Singapour Airlines. Cela équilibre les deux tronçons : 12 h 40 puis 10 h. Il y a un trajet avec seulement 2 h 10 d'escale de sorte qu'on est à Auckland en juste un peu plus de 24 h. Et le voyage en A380, c'est vraiment plus confortable... :)
On peut aussi choisir de faire un stop de 14 h qui permet de visiter la ville (l'aéroport t'y emmène gratuitement) mais je crois que ce n'est pas vraiment ton truc!

je pars le 24 avril pour Xchrurch à partir de Marseille, retour le 16 avril. J'ai tourné le basard dans tous les sens pour trouvé le meilleur compromis temps/escale/confort en économie/prix.
donc après 2 mois de recherches et pour mes dates, j'ai trouvé plusieurs solutions:
temps + nombre escales + confort vs prix :
trois hub Majeurs : Dubaï (Emirates), Singapoure (Singapore Airways) et Hong Kong (Cathay) toutes les compagnies majeurs Européennes (BA, Lufthansa, KLM voir AF) utilisent ces hub avec souvent un partage de code. j'ai donc tourné mon vol Marseille CHC dans tous les sens en partant de Marseille Nice Lyon CDG ou en passant par Londres ou Francfort avec une arrivée direct à CHC ou en passant par AKL. a) Le meilleurs rapport est un MRS CDG par TGV Air puis CDG DBX AKL par Emirates et un AKL CHC par Air New Zeland. ( 31 heures de trajet) Le train met 3h40 de MRS à CDG (départ 12h00) Le vol CDG DBX dure 6h30 en A380 avec une arrivé à 7h00 du mat à DBX à j+1 Le vol DBX AKL direct dure 17h15 en B777/200 avec un départ à 10h00 et une arrivé à AKL à 11h00 à j+1 puis AKL vers CHC départ 15h00 arrivé 16h30. Pour le retour je pars de AKL. Donc AKL DBX direct en B777/200 (16h30 de vol et je fais un stop over de 24h00 compris dans le prix) puis DBX CDG 6h00 de vol en A380 Tu as aussi un DBX AKL avec un stop à SYD ou MLB qui met 3 heure de plus mais tu voles en B380 avec un départ 20 mn plus tard que le direct. b) un bon rapport aussi est par la Cathay pacific un CDG HKG (B747) puis HKG AKL (B789) mais tu as un stop à l'aller ou au retour obligatoire (entre 8 et 15h00 d’arrêt). par contre si tu acceptes de payer plus cher tu peux ne faire qu'un stop de 2 heures. Tu as aussi un HKG CHC je crois en direct C) le 3eme choix mais qui pour moi était le plus cher est un CDG SNG et SNG AKL avec un arrêt de 4h00 à Singapour. Mais le vol est le plus rapide de tous (29h00 je crois) et le tout en A380.

Juste une ligne pour dire que j'ai déjà volé sur le Dubai Sydney qui part vers 10h00 le matin. Je préfère et de loin voyager de nuit car le vol de jour est particulièrement long. Il arrivait vers 7h00 le matin à Sydney.
Ce doit être pire avec les trois heures de plus pour Auckland ou Xchurch.

Il apparaît donc de plus en plus clairement que l'endroit le mieux placé (géographiquement) pour le stop serait Singapour, voire Hong Kong. Cela si l'on veut éviter le vol de 17h et plus, manifestement incontournable si on s'arête à Dubai. C'est donc dans ce sens que je vais orienter nos recherches.
Cette année, comme nous nous arrêtions à Shanghai pour une grosse semaine à l'aller et au retour, cela coupait le trajet pratiquement par la moitié.
Au passage j'ai trouvé que deux décalages horaires (7h et 5h) successifs étaient encore plus difficiles à encaisser qu'un seul plus important...

Le vécu du jet lag est assez personnel, car il y a de nombreux facteurs qui entrent en jeux.
La "règle", sachant qu'il n'y en pas😛, c'est que on absorbe +/- 1 heure de décalage par jour de séjour.
De plus on se recale plus vite en volant vers l'ouest (allongement de la journée), car l'horloge biologique interne est d'environ 25 heures, pas 24.
D'autres vous diront que pour eux c'est le contraire, car il y a une composante psychologique importante.
Moi, vers l'Australie je fais toujours une escale en Asie, avec la journée d'arrivée passée à marcher, piscine, soleil puis une nuit sur place après un nin dîner.
Une bonne nuit avec un Stilnox et je repars le lendemain déjà un peu acclimaté, propre et reposé.

Since it came into force, Regulation 261/2004 of the European Parliament and Council, which defines air passenger rights, has faced fierce resistance from airlines, backed by IATA (the association representing almost all passenger airlines).
Beyond the airlines' often abusive—and even frequently bad-faith—resistance to passenger rights, IATA has been lobbying EU institutions for years, with the Council paying close attention for a long time.
As a result, the Council and the Commission have been proposing revisions to Regulation 261/2004 for years that are particularly unfavorable to passengers. The latest attempt nearly eliminated the right to compensation for delays of 3 hours or more upon arrival at the final destination.
However, since this is a regulation of both the European Parliament AND the Council, the two bodies had to agree.
But the European Parliament has always stood firm, consistently responding that passenger rights must be preserved.
After 11 years of struggle, it seems likely that we’re finally nearing the end of the match between the European Commission, the Council (the 27 heads of state or government), and the European Parliament.
Indeed, the Commission and the European Parliament have agreed on a text that will be debated again on Monday, July 6, 2026, with a vote scheduled for July 7, 2026. It’s very likely that this text, which would come into force in a year, will be adopted.
The main changes would be as follows: - Families with children will no longer be forced to pay to sit together on planes; - A flight will be considered canceled (not just delayed) if it departs more than one hour late; - Right to compensation for arrival at the final destination if the delay exceeds 3 hours (no longer "3 hours OR more"). Since it came into force, Regulation 261/2004 of the European Parliament and Council, which defines air passenger rights, has faced fierce resistance from airlines, backed by IATA (the association representing almost all passenger airlines).
Beyond the airlines' often abusive—and even frequently bad-faith—resistance to passenger rights, IATA has been lobbying EU institutions for years, with the Council paying close attention for a long time.
As a result, the Council and the Commission have been proposing revisions to Regulation 261/2004 for years that are particularly unfavorable to passengers. The latest attempt nearly eliminated the right to compensation for delays of 3 hours or more upon arrival at the final destination.
However, since this is a regulation of both the European Parliament AND the Council, the two bodies had to agree.
But the European Parliament has always stood firm, consistently responding that passenger rights must be preserved.
After 11 years of struggle, it seems likely that we’re finally nearing the end of the match between the European Commission, the Council (the 27 heads of state or government), and the European Parliament.
Indeed, the Commission and the European Parliament have agreed on a text that will be debated again on Monday, July 6, 2026, with a vote scheduled for July 7, 2026. It’s very likely that this text, which would come into force in a year, will be adopted.

Of course, there’s huge pressure from European agencies, which are forced to disrupt their plans or even cancel trips because of this. Personally, I’ve got a trip planned for February 2026 to the southern parks in Tanzania, so I’ll be keeping an eye on how this develops. Do any of you have updates? Thanks!

Before, they used to prioritize major airlines, but now it’s small airlines from small countries—companies with terrible ratings and borderline safety concerns. I even just noticed this note for a Tanzania trip: "We inform you that the domestic flight segment in Tanzania included in your trip is operated by an airline listed on the European Union’s list of air carriers subject to an operating ban within the European Union. This ban only applies to European Union airspace, meaning this airline is not permitted to take off, land, or fly over European airspace. However, this airline is authorized to operate in Tanzania."

We need assistance for check-in and boarding/disembarking (my husband is a mobility-impaired traveler who uses a cane and/or a walker). We’ve done a cruise return from Dubai to Paris CDG before in 2016, with a layover in Istanbul, but we booked the transfer and return flight with COSTA. For our current plan, it would be with Celestyal, which doesn’t offer round-trip flights from Paris to Dubai. Should we book very far in advance, or is a few months before departure enough (4/6 months)? We’re thinking of arriving the day before the ship departs, so we’d need to stay overnight in Dubai—either on the way there or for the return flight, depending on the flight schedules. Could you recommend a hotel not too far from the airport, and how to get to the port from the airport?

So, I’d love to know: how strict are EasyJet’s ID checks? Do they enforce validity rules strictly and refuse boarding if the ID isn’t valid? Or is it more of a luck-of-the-draw situation?

The problem is that the smallest suitcase I have (which is supposed to be designed specifically for cabin size standards, according to the manual) has the following dimensions: 55x37x21, so it's just 1 cm over (wheels included) on one of the measurements.
I wasn’t too worried at first, but I’ve read dozens of stories about people’s misadventures and the hassles they’ve had with RyanAir.
Since I don’t want my suitcase to end up in the hold (that would waste time picking it up when I’m already arriving late and need to get to the city center), nor do I want to pay an extra fee (apparently 50 €) for the outbound and return flights for just 1 centimeter—especially since I paid for the "priority+" option and I’m not exactly rolling in money—I’d love some advice.
Have any of you been in the same situation? I’ve read that with this airline, they check bags in templates (testing them in different positions) and are completely uncompromising. I tried contacting customer service, who, as luck would have it, "don’t handle this kind of request," and a rep I spoke to wasn’t much help.

When I run searches on Skyscanner, I see that only Lufthansa has flights to Seoul with just one stop. Air France doesn’t show up, even though I thought the French airline served Seoul? I can’t even log into the Air France website—it keeps glitching.

I’d like to return to Uzbekistan next April for 10 days with my husband to visit our son who lives there. We went last July and I bought the flight tickets (direct flight from Paris on Uzbekistan Airways) about 2 months in advance at very reasonable prices. I’ve been checking for late April for a few weeks now, and the tickets are much more expensive and keep rising. I can’t figure out if the prices are going up because it’s still a bit too early to buy and they’ll likely drop if the planes aren’t full, or if it’s because the period is actually in high demand. For reference, last year I bought my son’s ticket on May 30th for a departure on June 3rd—just 3 days later—at a very low price that didn’t budge at all.
Just in case, does anyone know the pricing trends for this airline and can advise me? Should I wait or not?

My wife bought a flight ticket (Lucky Air) under her Thai maiden name and was issued a Chinese visa on her new Thai passport but with her French married name (due to administrative requirements). She was denied boarding by the airline in Bangkok for the flight to Kunming—resulting in the loss of our round-trip flight tickets, including mine since we were traveling together—despite presenting both passports at the airline counter at the same time.

Way cheaper than Air France, for example.
That said, the reviews I’ve seen online aren’t great.

I can't seem to find flights between the Cape Verde islands on the airline's website. No matter the date or route, I always get the same response: "no flights on this date." See the photo. Would anyone have an explanation? Surely not all flights are fully booked in July?

Has anyone managed to get a refund from Oman Air?
After a delayed flight, we missed our connecting flight to get home!! At midnight, the flight attendant booked us on a flight to Nice via Munich, even though we were in Munich and wanted to get back to Nice... Too tired from the trip, we didn’t notice the mistake!! The next day, of course, the booking wasn’t valid!! We had to pay again for the flight back to Nice... I’m really struggling!! I think they’re giving me the runaround!! I’ve sent several emails, tried Messenger and WhatsApp, but the only responses I get are: "We need to investigate!! We’ll get back to you in 15 days!!" It’s been over a month!!
I just sent a registered letter (LRAR) to their office at Paris Charles de Gaulle, which is still open!!
Do you have any other suggestions for me?

Sri Lanka has announced it could run out of fuel in the coming weeks if the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked. The government has implemented a mandatory four-day workweek to save oil, and there are long lines at gas stations due to fears of an early shortage.
In Vietnam, the government has warned all airlines that flights will need to be reduced due to a lack of kerosene. The country imports two-thirds of its jet fuel from China and Thailand, but both countries have now banned exports out of fear of domestic shortages.
The state is asking airlines to plan ahead and park aircraft to drastically reduce operations, starting with domestic flights and then international ones. International carriers will also need to cut back on their rotations.
This will begin in the coming days. 🙁

First question: Will my checked baggage be transferred automatically? I have a single ticket from KTI to YUL (Air Canada ticket—KTI-ICN operated by Asiana (codeshare) and ICN-YUL by Air Canada).
Second question: I saw it’s possible to join free guided tours (Airport Transit Tour). What do you think of this kind of service? And is my "actual" layover time (accounting for security checks, check-in, etc.) enough to do one of these tours?

I'm heading to Namibia next May. I'm planning to take a first flight from Paris to Johannesburg with Air France, departing at 11:20 PM and arriving at 11:05 AM in Johannesburg. Then a second flight from Johannesburg to Windhoek at 3:25 PM with South African Airways.
Four hours between the two flights seems enough to catch my connection, but a friend told me I should maybe take the 5:30 PM flight instead because I need to go through immigration, collect my luggage, and check in again. Apparently, I have to do this because I bought the two tickets separately (it's actually much cheaper).
What do you think?
Also, in terms of South African airlines, which one do you think is the most reliable between South African Airways and Airlink?

We’re a family of four traveling together to Seoul, with two separate bookings.
Our original itinerary was: Madrid → Doha → Seoul (March 23–24)
The issue is that our entire outbound flight was canceled, and the airline simply rescheduled the Madrid → Doha leg. Now we’re left with an incomplete journey, with no solution to reach our final destination (Seoul).
Since then:
- Can’t modify flights online (technical error every time) - Can’t get help via chat or WhatsApp - Phone support is unreachable, and the usual French number isn’t working right now
We don’t want a refund. We just want to be rerouted to Seoul, as our original ticket promised.
We’re flexible:
- On dates (we can leave on March 21 or 22 instead of the 23rd) - On the itinerary (different layovers if needed)
Have any of you dealt with this before? Do you know how to unlock a booking in this case or get a rerouting? We’re considering going straight to the airport to resolve it at the Qatar Airways counter....

We just received an email from Volotea saying our flight time has changed (by more than 2 hours).
The email states "you can request a free date change."
If I change the date, will the flight price stay the same as the original price, or will I have to pay the difference?
Specifically: Our flight on the 7th is 46.25 €, and the one on the 8th is 92.51 €. If we switch to the 8th, how much will we pay?
When I request the date change to the 8th, it says "No additional fees."
