Traveller Alert : Temporary Flight Delays at
Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport
Due Runway Maintenance and Part-Runway Closure during 11 Jun-10 Aug '12
Thai Airways International would like to advise travellers of routine maintenance work and the part-runway closure of one of
Bangkok Airport's runways from 11 Jun until and including 10 Aug '12. The remainder of this partially closed runway will used for departure flight operations only.
The 60 day maintenance period will have a knock-on effect both in the air and on the ground for incoming and outgoing flights and it is expected that flights may be held for anything between 20-45 minutes for take-off or landing.
It is expected that all flights will be delayed by at least 20 minutes and as such, the usual minimum connection time of 55 minutes will not be sufficient to ensure smooth connections. THAI strongly suggests allowing up to 80 minutes between connecting flights through
Bangkok during this maintenance period. Saturdays are the busiest day of the week, particularly between 1900hrs and 2100hrs with a predicted delay of up to 75 minutes.
If you are booked and ticketed with a travel agent, please contact them to check your flight connections through Bangkok during this period or call THAI Reservations on 1300-651 960.
Additionally, THAI Airport Ground Handling staff in
Bangkok will do all possible to facilitate all transit passengers at
Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport and to help alleviate delays and disruptions.
Thai Airways International thanks you for co-operation and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

According to an announcement of “Airport of
Thailand/Department Civil Aviation” the
Suvarnabhumi Airport will be
closing one runway for maintenance
, from 11 June until 10 August 2012.
As there will be only one and a haft runway serviceable for aircrafts’ take off and landing, the runway maintenance is expected to cause air traffic congestion at both in the air and on ground and some incoming flights might be hold in the air for
20-45 minutes on queue up for landing during peak period.
Thai Airways and other airlines are advising their passengers who have a connecting flight to allow a
minimum connecting time of 80 minutes at
Bangkok during this 60 days of runway maintenance.
The
Bangkok runway maintenance falls into the most busiest travelling period, with most Expats from
Laos leaving for their annual summer vacation abroad.
