After this stop, you will visit the Salesian Museum named 'Maggiorino Borgatello' where you can find exhibits of native flora, stuffed animals, the pioneers' history, maps and original belongings that were collected from the aborigines who lived in these lands. On the way you will see our avenues plenty of monuments. Next, you will get to the General Cemetery that contains luxury marbled mausoleums of immigrant families that came and settled in the region and which is considered one of the most beautiful cemeteries in South America. The Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint is our last stop to get a panoramic view of the whole city, the Strait of Magellan and
Tierra del Fuego Island before returning to the pier.

We head south of
Punta Arenas along the famous Strait of Magellan decorated by boats that have sunk and allow us to imagine how brave sailors fought in their schooners and frigates against the harsh and frigid waters. After advancing about 55kms come to a fork where we can find a monolith showing the middle of
Chile from Region I to the Chilean Antarctic territory. From this point we will take the road to the left to revive what was the Rey Don Felipe city now known as
Port Famine. By the way, we will visit Bahía Mansa town to watch the work of the fishermen in the cove, and depending on the weather we will also watch the capture of
King Crabs, sea urchins and sea weeds. Finally we will go to
Fort Bulnes, a place of great historical importance to Magellan and place that we thank the subsequent foundation of
Punta Arenas. This actual fort that was reconstructed product of the raging fire that consumed the original fort, shows us how life was forged in this country, the difficulties to survive and the strength of wanting to fulfill the mission of taking possession of the Strait of Magellan on behalf of the Chilean government to prevent the takeover of other nations.
After touring the fort, we will take a break to enjoy coffee / tea and biscuits.

We head to the northwest of
Punta Arenas for a few minutes along the famous Strait of Magellan. After advancing about 25kms ride to an unpaved road to begin to see the steppe landscape characteristic of the zone and native trees as ñires that are embraced by the wind. Upon reaching the entrance of the colony of penguins we will begin a walk on wooden walkways that guide us on track to reach the vicinity of the burrows and where we can see about a thousand penguins in the watchtowers and along the banks of the
Otway Sound. This colony has to almost
10,000 examples each year but because the colony is 42 hectares penguins spread easily. Gradually, these cute birds arrive in September to Magellan and later migrate to the coast of
Brazil or Folkland Islands (
Malvinas) in mid-March. We will walk around a little over an hour (roundtrip) and it is probably that the windy weather of this kind of open areas impedes our way. Before embarking on the return to
Punta Arenas, we will enjoy a coffee or hot tea to recover the body temperature. On our return, landscape usually shows part of the Patagonian fauna with beautiful rheas, condors, foxes, skunks, caiquenes, owls, among others. Return to your hotel or pier.

It is a paradise of bird watchers. Magdalena Island, together with Marta small island, make up the natural monument Los Pingüinos, natural habitat of more than
120,000 Magellanic penguins and one of the largest penguin colonies in southern Chile.
Reach the island is a spectacle. Two hours of sailing through the Straits of Magellan where you can see spectacular panoramic of
Punta Arenas, the plains of
Tierra del Fuego and oilfields of Cabo Negro or Bahía Laredo. Once there, the landscape is even more beautiful, where penguins, cormorants and sea lions, among others, are the protagonists. During an hour you will see thousands of penguins and nests on a walk through the trails that go from the coast to the top of the island where a lighthouse which is the Environmental Interpretation Center with the history of the Strait and the local fauna. The island has rangers who take care of the ecosystem and guide the visitor if necessary. The group will be accompanied at all times by a local guide. Help us preserve the environment without throwing waste and avoid disturbing the birds. Magdalena is possible to land in an hour and interact with the penguin colony.

We offer our guests a demonstration of the work done by the sheep dogs and give a brief explanation of the origin and training. The show is given by one of the children of the owners of the estancia.
Afterward we will visit the sheep shearing shed where we will see a sheep being sheared, together with an explanation about the animal and a brief insight of the treatment of the wool and the wool industry. The shearing is done by a shearer that has trained in
New Zealand.
The last demonstration will be a visit to the “Media Luna” rodeo ring at the estancia where we will see a demo of the training done with a Criollo horse. It will start with the origin of the Chilean horse its evolution and adaptation to the conditions graphically of the country; its use in livestock farming and the Chilean rodeo. After we show the rein movement of the horse and its versatility in the estancia and how one would train the horse for the Chilean rodeo.
After the last demonstration the guests will be taken to the quincho to enjoy a traditional patagonic barbecue with potatoes and salad prepared with homegrown vegetables. Before the lunch is served we will offer you a traditional Pisco sour or red wine aperitif or non alcoholic refreshment with a home-baked empanada.
