Hi, I’m Jonathan—I’m 38 years old and a nursing assistant with quite a bit of experience. I’d like to do humanitarian missions in different countries where I can really gain experience and truly thrive. If you have any leads, don’t hesitate to share them with me.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your show of solidarity. You didn’t specify which destination you’d like, so I’ll suggest one: Mauritania. It’s a country I know very well, where I’ve been helping—along with my Franco-Mauritanian network—children access medical care since 2012. The nursing assistant role doesn’t exist in Mauritania, but I can put you in touch with an amazing NGO based in Paris that works alongside me: ACTUME. They’ve just opened a health center in the village of Tekane and organize missions regularly. https://actume.org/ You can also check with the Catholic mission in Nouakchott—they see sick children and adults every day. https://evechenkc.org/annuaire-service-daccueil/ The needs in this country are huge, especially in isolated villages, but the language barrier could be an issue. If you don’t find anything (destination or NGO) and if the idea of Mauritania interests you, don’t hesitate to reach out! 🙂 Photo taken last March with one of our "patients" in Nouakchott

Jonathan, I’m getting back to you—very few care assistants are requested by organizations looking for volunteers (except for Globalong, but I’ve never had any experience with them). I just found on Google by searching "volunteer care assistant Senegal" that the nursing assistant students from IFAS MEWO in Metz carried out a mission in Senegal this year. Maybe you could contact them: https://www.facebook.com/groups/210262759184874/posts/2716318968579228/ That could be a lead for you. (No visa needed for Senegal for stays under 3 months, unlike Mauritania.)

Hi Jonathan, We read your message and your wish to take part in humanitarian missions abroad. We are the Humanitarian Association Terre d’Espoir Togo (AHTE-TOGO), an organization based in Togo, West Africa, working in several fields, including health, education, social support, and the environment. As part of our health project, we organize medical care and awareness campaigns directly in villages and communities with limited access to healthcare. Our goal is to reach vulnerable populations, identify their needs, and provide hands-on support. Our health project leaders also have experience in the field, allowing us to supervise missions under good conditions. Given your background as a nursing assistant, your profile could be a great fit for our activities. We’d love to discuss our projects, mission opportunities in Togo, participation conditions, and how you could contribute. 📧 Email: infos@ahje-togo.org 📱 WhatsApp/Phone: +228 92 44 68 06 Don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d be happy to chat and, why not, welcome you to Togo for an upcoming humanitarian mission. Humanitarian Association Terre d’Espoir Togo (AHTE-TOGO)
